I want my money back

My experience is that if they have one, you will get one, they just dont owe you one.

As Will said above, it matters not how expensive the car or job is either.

I'd expect a courtesy car if I was buying from a franchised dealer. BMW gave me brand new 3 Series courtesy cars free of charge when I had £90 services on my 100,000 mile+ car, let alone if something they had sold me broke!

Exactly :)

that's a service which you presumably booked, allowing them to arrange the resource, if I was dumping my car at a dealership at short notice I would not expect a courtesy car. Point in case my headlight fell out on the motorway (scary as its the size of a small car) I dropped it off for repair and had to get the tube home, that cost the best part of five grand to fix but I got no courtesy car

I didnt expect a courtesy car on Friday when I left it with them I even arranged for a mate to pick me up, I didnt even expect one over the weekend or the Tuesday but by Thursday when they said it had to go to Toyota for a diagnoses thats when I expected one, which was yesterday but it would have been nice to receive one earlier and without requesting but the GM did say he thought I had one.
It wasnt dumped either I rang them and told them I was going to drop it off on the Friday night

OT but five grand for a headlight?

it fell out at about 70 (ish), bounced off the front bumper, onto the bonnet and over the roof, scratching everything as it flew! so it wasnt just a headlight repair, although the head light itself was £1400 which I didnt think was too bad given its the size of a small country and hass more computing power in it than the iphone I'm typing this on :p

I usually book one or two days in advance. They have always been able to accommodate, and would expect them to do so if it was broken, even if it meant them hiring a premium car for me.

Thats all good will, not an entitlement though.

maybe I just expect less, given my outlook I'll only ever be pleasantly surprised :)

just looking through my warranties I get courtesy car cover but all this is subject to availability and are not a like for like replacement (guess they have to cover that!)

Out of probably 60 visits to Porsche over the years for service and work iv had a Porsche courtesy car probably 25 times an Audi 20 times and none the rest.

I just coughed up 3k odd for a Bentley service and got offered a Jag the following day, as i dropped off mine first thing on a monday and they had none.

Im telling you, they owe you **** all, except to fix your car if its got a warranty.

This is also my opinion and reasonably extensive experience :)

Thats it, im just not seeing the problem, if you get a courtesy car thats great, but no point getting the hump over it, get the hump over something good, like the fact your car has broke.

Who cares, I got one because I asked for one, my car will get sorted because its under warranty right now its sat there with no mileage being added waiting for Toyota to run a diagnoses on it whilst I put miles on someone elses car, you really have to ask yourself what your problem is, its as if you want it to turn out badly, everything you have said so far in this thread and the last has turned out to be nothing more than a pessimistic opinion, maybe in the future you should try applying "dont ask dont get" to your situations and see how it works out

i've never liked the sound of this car from the moment you posted it.

I was chastised for saying that they were trying to get rid of a lemon quickly. Hate to say i told you so but ...

Totally agree. We all called this the second he announced it, too much of the deal just seemed silly and I'm sure I remember a lot of saying they are just trying to palm off a PX hence the stupid 1 month warranty etc.

But instead of listening you just had a go at us all, as you continue to do, even in the OP - when you know we are right.

As it stands now you are not entitled to a refund, they are being pretty reasonable, and you must allow them to fix it.

Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear.

You keep missing the point, i dont want anything to go wrong, im glad its working out.

All im trying to tell you is THEY DONT OWE YOU A COURTESY CAR, and when one day you dont get one, you can throw as many toys out your pram as you like, they will eventually tell you to **** off. Because THEY DONT OWE YOU A CAR, they owe you an obligation to fix your car, not keep you in transport.

Alright calm down, try to take some deep breaths, thats it, step away from the internets a for bit maybe.

My point is, it doesnt matter, I have a courtesy car, please see last post again as I CBA to repeat myself, thanks :)

in my experience porsche and bentley dealers (as these are the examples being referred to) really go out of their way to mistreat their punters, its not like people that buy them have large wads of disposable income and good service would likely result in future purchases with high margin retention!

please dont make me laugh, dont ask dont get, I did laugh :D

Of course 'I ask', I just don't cry if 'I don't get', I'm a realist with plenty of experience, maybe my senior years have whittled down the chip on shoulder?

I've already explained this in a previous post, i'm not repeating myself, I honestly that is a load of rubbish, its making a noise not breaking down at the side of the road

I dont want a refund, try not to get excited when you find a post you agree with next time and make a post that suits you, instead read the rest of the thread, i'm very happy with the outcome

It might help then if you don't call your thread 'I want my money back'.

You are ignorant.

Ok now i've calmed down after panic posting

Everytime I speak to the GM he sorts me out he seems to be really wanting to get this sorted, its everytime I speak to the people who dont have a clue that I end up getting frustrated and stressed out

So I picked up the courtesy car up last night and I feel better about the whole situation i'm quite happy to leave the car with them and wait and see what Toyota say, my Corolla isnt a lemon or at least I dont think it is and i've driven it and seen it, there isnt a mark on it, it drives smoothly and pulls very very well, the gear changes are smooth just because its had a battery replaced under warranty and now its having a noise inspected doesnt make it a bad car and the fact that I have confirmation from the GM that if Toyota say that it needs anything it will be covered under the warranty reasures me greatly.
Its only five year old with one owner and full history with the same main Toyota dealer, i've spoken to that dealer and the most work its ever had done is discs and pads.

I'm really looking forward to finding out what the noise is and getting the car back now that i've calmed down a bit and received a courtesy car. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Yes you have a courtesy car, because of goodwill not obligation. Next time when you dont get one (like nearly happened, remember when you were whining about public transport) dont bother to moan.
