Had something similar myself a few years back. Developed an infection in the tube that connects your ears and your nose to equalise pressure in the ears. The tubes were so inflamed that my ears didn't equalise then descending in a cable car in the Swiss Alps, both ears popped. Couldn't hear a thing for a week :(

My ears get blocked all the time (probably due to my sinus issue i guess?). Not that much of a big deal, but pretty annoying.

ouch!! it used to hurt when popping my ears, but i do it all the time now. i dont know why, my hearing just feels better when they're popped :p

I don't know what the OP is moaning about. I have had an ear infection rendering me completely death in my right ear, for over a week now. It has only just started to get better due to **** loads of Amoxicillin thank Jebus.

Perforated ear drum following an ear infection - deaf in one ear for 6-7 weeks.

Not nice suddenly having you ear drum pop because of the pressure of green goo, which as well as coming out of the ear finds its way into your throat down the Eustachian tube...

I some times get that too, but this was very different. It felt like having a needle shoved through my ear drum and then a cork rammed into my ear

I need to get my ears syringed every year or so :(

I used cotton buds on my ears about 6 years ago and it pushed the wax in

I love the feeling after of having clearer hearing!

Even if the issue is related to ear wax I still tell my brother and sister not to use headphones for listening loud music. One of my close friend used to place his ears next to hi-fi speakers and unfortunately after few months he lost his hearings:(.

Even I am noticing the same trend in my sister. She uses headphones a lot of times and when we call her she doesn't immediately listen. Too much excessive use of anything isn't good at all.

I had to get my ear syringed just over a year ago after I lost hearing in one ear. Apparently it was caused by cuttings of hair getting into my ear after a trip to the Barbers, this annoyed my ear enough to go into wax overload and then it got clogged up. Pleasant!

I lost the hearing in one ear on holiday with a wax build up. The swimming didn’t help and it got syringed in hospital.

I had a similar experience in Kenya, the doctor who syringed my ears said that wax was impacted in the offending ear and water had got between the wax and the ear drum thereby causing the inflamation and pain. He sugested that if I were to go snorkelling again I get my ears checked and if necessary syringed BEFORE going on holiday.

The doctor said that sometimes wax will build up in ears as a protection measure against excessive noise.

i was stone deaf for 3 days and had to have needles in my backside. fun!

Yes, I certainly would not have wanted a ***** up my bum!

Well I wont be taking my hearing for granted again thats for sure.
friday night I decided I wanted to use earplugs so I could concentrate on some reading I was doing ( I have concentration issues).
took them out after an hour and It felt like I still had an ear plug In my right ear so I quickly looked at the ear plug, phew It was In one piece lol.

This was a very surreal and scary feeling having no hearing In one ear.
So this morning I phonned NHS direct (using the good ear lol).
they advised me I had probably pushed some wax to far down the ear and I should go the chemist and get an earwax removing solution. I did just that !
and 7 hours later I got my hearing back.

anyone else ever lost hearing to due to earwax related Issues?
Just glad I didnt need to go the Docs and get them syringed as I'm back In work Monday.

Ps: sympathies to people who are permantly deaf.

I had two blocked ears, so hearing was muffled constantly....Got my ears seringed and now I have tinnitus in both ears....Oh the joy!

I have 25% hearing in both ears since birth and a constant ringing in both as well you learn to channel it out but it does get really irritating when you are trying to sleep and all you can "hear" is eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Causes me headaches, dizzyness and nausea randomly, few weeks ago i was ill for a week and i could hardly walk. So enjoy your temporary hearing loss :P

Had my ears syringed 3 times to date was whille working in a noisy factory I guess my ears were producing more wax to protect my hearing, just so much wax build up and the cue tips cleaning was often but to no avail, once some wax gets pushed down thats it, you can soften it up with olive oil ready for syringing and yes its such a relief when your ear just seems to pop open and you can hear again. But there are risks with syringing such as you can perforate your eardrum or become at risk of ear infection or it can even cause tinitus which is a persistant kind of ringing in your ears which is very noticeable and annoying when in quiet settings. It's best to try and keep them clean ;)
