Are you afraid of death?

I'd like to know the reason why the other 4 first replies to this thread aren't afraid.

Is it religion?

I'd be more scared if god did exist. Even if I was going to heaven.

I mean, who would want to spend eternity in heaven with someone who has created and maintained a world full of pain and suffering for his own sick twisted experiment?

Why would I be afraid of losing 'everything'?

What is there to fear?

Then why do you go on living?

If you honestly don't care about anyone or anything you experience or see or touch or feel then why go on?

All the people unafraid of death, say you're about to be executed for whatever reason, you wouldn't struggle, wouldn't beg, wouldn't fight or resist. You'd just stand there and die?

I'd hate to leave loved ones.

Other then that, can't say I'm bothered.

I lead a pretty dull boring existance as it is ha

We knew nothing before birth but now we are on the flip side of it all... we know what is coming now like we didn't before we were born. We are all heading in this direction of death.

To say that the thought of not living any more doesn't bother you is to me a strange one.

I enjoy life, and right now I don't want it to end. But I am guessing if I live to be much older my body will be aged and maybe I will feel tired.. maybe tired of living?

The question wasn't about not living any more, it was about death.

I want to live as long as I can, but death does not scare me.

I said I'm not afraid of death. I didn't say I was suicidal. :p Surely you can make the distinction in your mind? When the inevitable end comes, I'll embrace it for what it is. I won't, however, be hastening myself there nor cooperating with anyone else wishing to do the same (eg execution).

I'm more afraid with the possibilities of how it will could happen I think. Like getting a fatal disease or health problem, cancer etc.

Though I am seriously scared about becoming old and the problems that can cause, especially with your memory.

I have also faced death. Still not afraid. :)
Humans can quite easily make a distinction between the survival instinct and the fear of death as an entity. Then again probably only humans had a conception of death as its own entity to begin with. Double-edged sword. :D
You've confused me with this. Are you saying that you don't fear this:

LOL. Pain and suffering in the world is caused by humans themselves. Our race is one messed up one. How much money is their available in the world? How many people get killed over it?

Just got to have faith. I believe in God, I believe in life after death. I believe in the last day. Nothing, will ever change that. It's just no-one stays alive for ever.

It's animal instinct to survive. Just because you're not afraid of being dead, doesn't mean we don't want to survive as long as possible.

I don't want to die, but I'm not afraid of dying in itself.

As has been said, I'd be more afraid of the method of death, and affect it would have on loved ones.

its impossible to know, untill the situation arrives...

but as a general "are you afraid" i would say no.

on the flip side are you afraid to kill someone?

As posted in the other thread: http://www.galactanet.com/oneoff/theegg_mod.html

If God exists, then we are ignorant to the variables.

The 'Does/Doesn't God Exist?' argument is so tired. Yes, it's a pretty important one, especially if you choose to define yourself along spiritual boundaries. However, as it stands -and this is the unalienable fact of our present state - we do not and shall not know either way. All between is pomp. Why waste time beating an old pillow when it's time to buy a new one?

We cannot know, so therefore let's turn our attention to the variables within our control, like improving man as a moral and ethical being, of improving the very world we live in and just enjoying life for what it is, as the best person you can be.

And who made humans that way?

They did themselves. It can't be "Gods" fault. If they didn't believe in the first place they can't blame. If they did believe they should have kept faith. Death will come to death it's self.

The world can change for the better, but it's come to a point where humans want to be a "God" like symbol themselves.

Get in line to spit on his/hers face ;)

Depressing thread nix! - But a subject I think a lot about lately.

Time just seems to move quicker the older you become.

The question wasn't about not living any more, it was about death.

I want to live as long as I can, but death does not scare me.

But death is linked to living, it will be the last thing you ever do.
