Theatrical LotR versus Extended LotR?

If you read the books when you were younger, or recently for that matter :p then it's a must to wait for the extended versions, some very nice little extras in there that are going to make you go "Come on, cool as fk" :)

I've got the Extended editions that came with the Figures :D (well technically they're my dad's but I still have them).

hope they release a nice version with some collectables.

Theatrical - don't have to sit through 117 hours of walking and scenery shots.
Alternatively - get the BBC Radio Productions - best version available.

There's only one "Return," okay, and it ain't "of the King," it's "of the Jedi."

;)

Extended

The Saruman confrontation scene is epic. certainly a few bits of bulk but majority is well added.

the Saruman confrontation is terrible, the book version is so much better.
But it would have made a horrible ending to the film. Go through, Minas Tirith, The Black Gate, The Coronation, wrapping up all the stories......then another hour of stuff on top, it just wouldn't have worked film wise. Works very well in the books though.

For the record, extended, i've lost count the amount of times i've watched it, including the extras.

Got my theatrical blurays the other day. Gotta say, if I'd paid more than £25 for them I'd feel ripped off. The quality is poor for HD; grainy and noisy and blurry everywhere. But then I knew it would be anyway, and since I didn't have them in any other format I don't mind that much.
