***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

I found a 320 slim with gt5 Collector's Edition for £284

Worked out cheaper than going for the 160 slim and standard gt5

Has anyone found a cheaper deal?

If your not bothered about the CE, 320GB slim is 229 plus 38 for the game, so its a little bit cheaper but not quite the same bundle.

I'd be happy for any new slim and the standard gt5, but I haven't seen any for less than £250.
Maybe the 120's will get a nice discount at some point until then I'll hold on to the pre order.

Fingers crossed for news at TGS to be good.

It seems weather feature is the topic on peoples mind now.

I want to know more about the 3DTV feature wth facetracking. Mainly if its any use and enchances the fun. E3 and Beta rooms hadnt finished code so was hard to get much impression/feedback.

Maybe like some of you I will need a new TV soon and Sony's 2nd lineup of 3DTVs are appearing already and prices, particulary for Samsung models are dropping. Samsung have a PS50C680 50" 600Hz 3DTV Plasma model in their 2nd model lineup available soon for approx £1050 while perhaps not having the full performance or features and styling of some models. At this price point and discounts on other models in around £1200 is very tempting to consider this 3DTV stuff.

Its funny as it was GT5 Prologue was one of the driving forces in me getting a 1080p projector several years ago.
Games more than movies is whats getting me interested in this Stereoscopic gaming. Still I think Id hold off to actually try it before plumping money down on a telly.

Nobody else getting tempted or curious of the 3DTV feature?

Not at all. GT5 in 3D (after beta rooms) offers nothing over playing it in 2D.

Do we know when any previews/announcements will be made about GT5 at TGS?

TGS I think is about 5am UK for the conference.
GT Planet will have links to the stream.

3D constantly gets very varied remarks such as great, to crap. Bit like the cinema response of Avatar I guess. So its hard to be certain where my own opinion of it will be until I try myself I guess.

Killzone 3 and Motorstorm 3 in 3D seems to be getting the same mixed responses as well.

I'd go as far to say that Killzone 3 and Motorstorm 3 in 3D were very very good. But it still wouldn't push me to invest in a 3D TV.

Depends how each person looks at it.

For me if I need a TV soon anyways its a £300 or so premium that means my new TV will allow me to enjoy 3D material in games and movies for the next few years. Of course I dont have to watch or play in 3D all the time but having the option their is the thing. Bit like surround sound it could enchance the entertainment when needed/wanted.

I think Im more worried in not having it and missing it than having it and only frequently using it. 1080p is the same, like how often do we actually get full usage of 1080p material yet many of us stumped up the money for the latest tech.

Only low quality so far...

Kotaku has lots of info on their blog, worth checking.
Many new things mentioned, very exciting stuff...

^ Hopefully snow is an option on all tracks?
Weather may not be on all tracks...

The weather system is only used for tracks you want to use for endurance races. Also on the course builder like I mentioned before...
Later going to be many updates

Yamauchi says this is their third presentation -- E3, Gamescom and now TGS.

A new course for GT5 is Laguna Seca -- rebuilt for GT5. Another new course is Trail Mountain.

The night track is the Circuit de la Sarthe. It looks exactly like it does for races.

There is the Volkswagon Kubelwagen -- designed by Mr. Porsche. Another is the VW Schwimmagen, which can drive in water. Also designed by Porsche. Sadly, this game won't be in the release of GT5.

Another VW is the Samba Bus.

1:16 Another is a concept car, the Isuzu 4200R

1:16 Yamauchi is showing off "interesting" cars for GT5.

1:17 The other car is a GT by Citroen

1:17 Polyphony Digital designed the car's interior.

1:18 We are done with the interesting cars, and we have moved on to the "My Home" function of GT5

1:20 These are features that have been discussed in the past.

1:20 Now we are talking about "Gran Turismo Anywhere"

1:22 You can access My Home from a web browser on the internet.

1:22 So, you don't need your PS3 to check your messages or your photos, but you can check them at gran-turismo.com

1:22 You log in with your PSN id

1:23 This version of My Home will appear on gran-turismo.com when the game launches.

1:24 You can perform races on the net through a function called "Remote Races"

1:24 So you can play with your friends through the Bspec mode

1:24 via an internet browser.

1:25 If you keep your PS3 on Remote Mode, when you are outside, the PS3 will act as a server that will host games you play when out of your home.

1:26 He says Gran Turismo Anywhere is a bridge between the console and the browser game industry

1:27 The game has a series of special events like Karting Experience, the AMG driving school, The Stig Challenge, Jeff Gordon NASCAR School, Sebastien Loeb Rally Challenge, Gran Turismo Rally

1:28 Today, they are going to show us a Gran Turismo Rally

1:28 It is not a simply dirt time trial. Every time you play, the track will change

1:29 The special stages are automatically generated. You can hear the voice of the navigator!

1:29 Yamauchi is going to play a live demo

1:29 He goes into the special event section.

1:30 And has selected the rally.

1:30 The number of special stages is determined by the level you achieve.

1:31 The course was generated just now.

1:31 And Yamauchi is off!

1:32 The voice of the navigator is audible.

1:32 You can drive by either listening to the navigator or by looking at the map in the center of the screen.

1:33 You can play the Rally Mode offline or online.

1:34 Now, we are onto the in-game weather changes. The game has a dynamic weather system. So weather temp, pressure and humidity changes. Surface changes also change along with the weather!

1:35 The weather conditions are randomized. You will get a real forecast, but it will only be a guideline.

1:37 If it is wet, you'll be exposed to water sprays from the cars in front of you.

1:37 The weather system is only used for tracks you want to use for endurance races.

1:37 The courses you create in the course maker will be compatible with this.

1:37 Now they are showing a trailer of the weather mode. Lots of snow!

1:38 Slick rainy streets.

1:38 You think GT5 has great looking cars? This is great looking weather!

1:38 Now, driving at night -- during the day, dusk and dawn.

1:39 Project "X1 Prototype" is on the screen.

1:40 This is a continuation of what was shown at E3 with regards to what Gran Turismo is doing with Red Bull racing.

1:40 It started with a question: What would a racing car, freed of all technical regulations look like?

1:41 The design was done by Polyphony Digital, the partner was Red Bull Racing, and the tech advisor was Adrian Newey.
