***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

well technically, they are competing with each other, just indirectly. like a TV competes with a radio for attention. its all about mindshare.

like rationally, could you be a fan of Mario AND sonic at the same time? they were on competing formats, and one was cool and the other one was mega lame. it just depended on your viewpoint as to which was good and which was lame.

its not about loyalty to one side. you either enjoyed the slower jump and shell people platformer, or you enjoyed spinning around like a pinball machines. they were both very different. to an extent that i dont see how you can really like one and also really like the other to the same extent.

like GT and forza.

What a stupid thing to say!!

Of course you can be a fan of both games. I certainly am.

well it was a question, not a statement, so ideologically your statement is more stupid because you fail to comprehend the questionmark/

The problem is several people on these forums have stong opinions and high regards for FM. I dont have a problem with that, yet dont have to praise the game the same as they do neither. At the same point quite often we have had people here in the past and still yet they continue to down play GT or what Polphony Digital could achieve. They wil ignore many good things to focus on something that isnt so good.

If this was FM4 wed have ibert and co going mental about how awesome it is and yet hes more interested in starting a debate than actually talking about how todays information of weather looks to be fantastic.

For me I know which developer I admire more of the two and as a racing fan which one appeals more to me. While one often in the past has shouted its mouth off, making big claims. Hey if thats their style its their style of marketing yet the other seems to be producing a game that really is quite a step ahead and in many ways of what other developers have produced.

That's an interesting thing to say:

As for Kaz and PD we can no longer believe anything they say untill its 100% confirmed and that also probably goes for details on things they said would be in the game for the past 2 or so years.

The whole thing just seems very premature. We have no idea what the final GT5 product will be like.

The only time comparisons should be done is when GT5 is released and people can compare what we have and don't have in both games, not just based on what the developers claim as the best thing since dawn began.

That's just my 2 cents, and I cannot wait to finally play GT5, for me I wont be comparing it to GT% at all, I will enjoy both titels for what they both have to offer.

Maybe you should go through the FM3 thread again, On here and over at AVF. You'll not find me going crazy about anything, only defending it from your negativity. Seriously, go and look through the threads again.

I've never been a fan of bad weather in racing games. Like in real life, I want my track to be dry and hot.

I'm looking forward to the game but GT4 bored me to death so I'll wait till I play this before I start blowing Kaz.

With all due respect we have had Prologue, the TT Demo and various other demos shown not only at trade shows or racing events. So the public have been able to form a baseline on what to expect but with more to come.

Therefore Id disagree that we have no idea on what to expect from the final product.
We also have four previous games that were pretty well received. A lot of the other stuff thats new only raises peoples expectations.

ibert Im not interested, best to ignore, I suggest you do the same.
You dont like weather in a racing game, well maybe go paint a car or something...

I agree with this, we pretty much know how well this game will handle, I'm sold that this release will be no different, the only discussion is features.

We all know how GT5 will play, its no secret - it will play and handle good.

Now, is there no mention of a release delay. lol we're still on for this November. I hope so, I'm really excited with some of the stuff I've read today.

F1 2010 will keep me going until November. Excellent..:)

News that the game wont always maintain 60fps with 16 cars and weather will likely cause rifts.
How bad it effects frame rates will be interesting but shows they really are pushing the PS3.

IMO online is make or break.

even COD online isnt flawless, but they have had 5 tries at it at least. what worries me is that PD have never really had a sucessful online play. they have for the first time really ventured into onlne in GT:P. did they learn enough? can they satisfy people used to generations of evolved online play?

i severely hope so!

They only said that so far the only drops in frame rate is when you're starting at the back of a standing grid of 16 cars and all the cars in front are kicking water into you. Kaz has stated on record he was only very recently sure the weather effects would make it in as it would have got the chop if they couldn't maintain 60 frames per second with them.
