Why is it when i see a nice german car

The only one missing from the list is Porsche. Which I rarely see anything other than whites driving.

Must be something to do with where you live, doesn't really happen like that down here.

Most of the really nice car's here either have blue badges in them whilst they are parked up in the middle of town on double yellows or it's some poncy white rich boy.

Number 1.

Asian chap at my local gym is at uni, never had a job yet manages to afford a new, kitted out car, full membership and all the designers brands you could imagine.

Because a lot of asians seem to obsess about showing off their (often false) wealth, and so pour all their money into lease cars.

Up in Middlesbrough you'll see a lot of new-ish Audi/Merc/BMWs driven by the Asian/Indian/non-white community - but very rarely they would be anywhere near 'specced', let alone 'well-specced'

There are a few nice cars knocking around owned by the same stereotype of people with varying levels of 'believability' (I remember reading the lad who had a murcielago never serviced it, and it certainly sounded like a bag of nails when I saw it - where as the '10 plate white RRS is owned by a chap who co-owns 4 or 5 well-established (the one in 'boro is always busy) restaurants and has a few other toys to play with)

..at the same time, there are a fair few white people with nice cars (regularly see plenty of Range Rovers, Bentleys, Astons, M5, RS4/6 etc) and there used to be a guy in uni with an Exige so the stereotype doesn't always fit ;)

Castlegate, down by the Zoo, White dude in an R8 Convertible ;)

clearly just stole it from an asian!

He's clearly got 11 wives and been paid 10k each to marry them and get them into the country!

Mainly Indians, because we know how to work hard :p

Nah the reason, as said above, is the image. Indians see Mercedes (and Jaguar [lately Audi as well, above BMW ]) as a BIG status symbol which they can show off to relatives & friends. It's kind of an "I've made it" sort of thing. But it's NEVER finance! They save for it, buy it, then keep it until they can save for another one (however long that may be).

I agree with the fact that they are rarely good spec, but that's because they don't care about what the car does, just the image it gives off.

As for daddy’s kids driving around in brand spankers, they're just spoilt idiots ruining the good reputation our parents worked hard and fought for when initially immigrating to this country.

I don't know about the Asians these days but the old school brown people see financing a car as the worst thing possible.

LOL, my best mate is indian. Trentlad on here. Known him for 20odd years ;)

Doesn't stop you being racist, just like the "I have black friends therefore I'm not racist!" argument.

But anyway...obviously they know how to work their money to get them some prestigious metal....well actually the cars aren't that great in the scheme of cars, but as has been said, they are seen to be signs of 'I have loads of money' by some, so they buy them.

very well put.

as for old school brown people, my god that made me giggle. its true how you have old school and new generation

I look 'Asian' but am not. I was reluctant to buy my current car because of this!

But then this stereotype also applies to a lot of Jap stuff like older Civics, Preludes, CRX etc I find as well. :p

Stereotypes y0!

FWIW I don't rely on parents or anyone else to fund my car! I work hard for what I own - whether its my car or computer or anything else :)

We need someone from the inland revenue to spill the beans. It's all about keeping your money out of the bank to avoid paying tax on all the undeclared income. Even my landlord does it, his dad did it and his kids will almost certainly do it too. I'm also completely biased being a white chap in a mostly asian community (and house!). I only moved here to bring some colour to the place!
Oh and the drug dealers only lease vectra/mondeo crud or hire a minicab for the night ;)

I'm quite happy to be 100% wrong on all of the above :(

I'm one of these "best mates".

Basically I'm the get out of jail free card for a certain group of mates so they can say what you just did :D

Another friend is the same - referred to as the "****-Iraqi" in jest (despite the fact he is Iranian).

Que the "I'm not racist but....." comments.

I'm not racist but I had you down as Samoan as you look a little bit like The Rock. If you are Samoan do you know him?
