Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

Bah so tempted - want the game but havent decided on what platform and as it seems it actually will use a wheel well (first for Codemasters) so might have to dust that off and get a wheel stand...

Ive got a few days - just worried about Codemasters support for the PC game which is why Im thinking PS3...

ps3ud0

Reliability problems in the first few races, and i don't recall him going off the road at all this year.

When he's had the car underneath him, he's been fast and consistent, stand out rookie (if you don't count his Toyota races) of the year.

He's my new favorite, so i'm a bit defensive :)

But in general the review wasn't in depth at all, that was my main gripe with the article, it's a huge release and they gloss over everything.

Agreed, very good driver and has a lot of skill and isn't intimidated by anyone when he has the car under him..

As for the IGN review, clearly written by someone who knows a bit about F1 but not enough to really go into any depth, poor review in some aspects but game still got a decent score.

As for the spa video, wet driving looks a nightmare apart from the AI.... Can see a few rage quits with wet driving.. lol

It's been a long time since I faced such a dilemma regarding what system to buy a game on! 360 is definitely the best option for MP as I have bunch of regular Forza buddies on Live but for me it would mean pad only. MY DFGT wheel will work on PS3 and PC but means I will get little in the way of MP with either option. The PC one will likely look the best and is a little cheaper but performance may be an issue. It looks like the best option may be the PS3 one or do I wait an agonising extra few days to hear opinions of the different versions. Hmmm...!

I've not played a Codemasters racer on PS3 before, are they pretty much identical to the 360 versions?

I'm not trying to spark anything, but I'm more or less certain that the 360 version will be better in performance. PS3 doesn't do well against the 360 /pc as developers never optimise as well for the PS3 when its cross platform.

Dirt 2 suffered a lot more screen tear then the 360 on the PS3. Sad fact is, the PS3 version will be the worse performer, but it'll still be ok.. I'm getting the Ps3 version, but I expect screen tearing - but I'm hoping to use my DFGT with the game.

Is that guy using the manual gearbox in the second and third videos? It's obvious in the first video but I'm not noticing his hands moving in the others.

I laughed at him trying to pull off the line in the wet. He loses about 6 places before he realises he's wheelspinning :D

Watching those videos, why is there no movement in the wheels of the F1 car when he begins to turn either way on the wheel? It's not until he has turned the wheel quiet a lot that the wheels begin to move.

Is that how it's meant to be?

Already mentioned - apparently it's just caused by the dead zone he set for his wheel.

He's definitely shifting manually as the changes are all over the show (sometimes short shifting, most times over-revving/hitting the limter).

I 'think' that the gear change on the Fanatec wheel is just buttons on the rear rather than paddles as such, so wouldn't require a lot of movement at all.
