Sharia Law coming to swimming pools in Australia

So why don't they ask these people to stop speaking for them. Or is there another agenda?

Oh grow up. Do you agree with everything government does? I doubt you do all across the board, but still these people are representing you. Why don't you ask them to stop? ;)

If muslims didnt want the change, then how come they couldn't get it overturned?

It's not their fault in the first place - why should they be held responsible for over turning it?

Edit-beaten.

Can we get some perspective here please kids... it's ONE EVENT, to do with Ramadan.

Would you whinge and moan if they closed the pool for a nudist club and the people at the private party had to go nekkid?

Jeebus.

Actually, Muslims didn't agree with the proposed rule change.

Get it right only one didn't agree:

Sherene Hassan, vice-president of the Islamic Society of Victoria, said she didn't support the dress restrictions.

and of course there will be those that have but we don't hear about them.

Oh what's the point. I give up.

Yeah let’s give up and carry on with slow Islamification. One small step and the rest will follow.

Newspapers are stupid shocker @ overblown out of context article but the not so surprising thing is that some people here are even more stupid than the papers. I suppose stupid articles attract stupid people.

Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. It looks like the paper is trying to stir people up and has certainly succeeded with you lot! :)

It's a family event for people to attend if they want, and there is a certain dress code. That's all it is. Big deal.

It's no different from someone stopping you from visiting a fancy dress party without a costume, or stopping you from going to a formal event without a tux.

Khaaan with a typically cryptic remark, refusing to name names and make an actual point.

Weird. I read the article at the time the OP posted it - there were deffo two different references in there, one each at the top and bottom - none with a name. Now there is only one at the bottom with a name.*

And there will be plenty of those that don't, but again, we won't hear about them.

Whether you feel that's an issue or not is irrelevant here. It's a total non problem that's been blown up out of proportion, and it's worked in sparking some idiotic comments. You're blaming Muslims for this when they didn't even ask for it. Have a go at the government - not them.

Ironically the one party who directly would be a voice for them has come out against this but seemingly this isn't enough*. I don't see what on earth else they should be doing for this issue.

Oh dear their delicate sensitivities will be offended by folks uncovered in a swimming pool. Well tough luck, that’s how people go swimming. Stop all this pointless kowtowing to ridiculous minority interests. If they don’t like it then they know what they can do.

Who exactly is 'they'?

Many readers feel the administrative ruling has gone too far to appease minority interests, and even senior Islamic figures have raised concerns about the precedent.

So why don't they ask these people to stop speaking for them. Or is there another agenda?

How would you go about doing so? Speaking out as a senior Islamic figure, perhaps?

Alternatively, not making personal attacks and breaking the rules?

I wouldn't call it cryptic. If you read the thread the kneejerk brigade have made themselves quite visible.

Strong white knight / wannabe mod complex there. You're one of those people that tries to turn any comment into a personal attack, quite pathetic really.

And by 'the kneejerk brigade' I assume you mean those that think it's ridiculous? I assume you read the part about 'people of all races and religions and ages may attend'.

Who exactly is 'they'?

People offended by it, quite obviously?

This! I don't name names when its pretty obvious anyway.

But if you want me to name names then sure, here's one:

Robbie G in kneejerk reaction to a Khaaan! post! *gasps*

Probably going to call me a Chrome/Firefox/Android fanboy next in another thread.

Oh wait, he has :p
