***** Playstation Move Thread *****

Might buy this today, if I wanted to play this with the Mrs tonight, what games would people recommend? Also do we need two of the controllers with the ball on the end for most two player games?

Thanks,

G

Just got back from town and managed to talk gamestation into giving me 15% off if I purchased a game... Bascially got 15% off my entire purchase.

Got myself -

Move kit with one wand + eye camera
TV fixing bracket
Navigation controller
Sports Champion

Seeing as they offered me 15% off my PS3 shopping lol I also got some PS3 DS3 trigger adaptors, a PS3 bluetooth headset for when I'm ripping the track on MP on F1 2010 this month and I found Resident Evil Gold - its move enabled so once its all charged up I'll have a go.

The eye camera is attached already, the bracket is needed for connecting to the top of the TV.

i'll give sports champions a go later, missus is just popping back with another wand - for us to play two player. I sent her a text saying I've got PS3 move, she replied saying is it two player, and I said yeah but I've only got one controller, so she's picking another one up..

So we're all set. Wii HD I guess.. lol

Kids are loving this way more than the wii - the bug bashing game on start the party is thier favorite (out of the demos) simply because they can see themselves.

Sigh gonna have to go back to Asda in a bit to get another controller as arguments are starting.

well me and my brother did a all nighter playing sports champions and now my shoulder is hurting a lot from all the table tennis and archery we played.

Very tempted. Did like the wii for some of the fun family games but I would like to have a play first to see if I like it or not. I already got the camera from eyepet. The Tigerwoods golf game looks good. Wonder if you can smash cars with it like Mrs Woods did? :D

have just picked this up from the supermarket - glad they allowed to trade games - decent price too. just had a go at table tennis - very impressed - frisbee thing was pretty good too.

Does anybody find in table tennis that it can get confused with forehand and backhand? i play 'real' table tennis quite a lot - standing side on - on ocassion as i attempt to hit a forehand a backhand comes out!

all in all very impressed - never really played the wii but i can see this catching on - plus its not too expensive

Ive heard some of that is down to it being on easy mode, try it on a harder level to remove some of the assist.

with peoples first impressions would you now go for this over a wii for party/with the mrs gaming??

(already have a ps3 and been thinking of buying a cheap second hand wii)

I'll be honest and say, despite giving it a pretty extensive session yesterday, I'm a bit disappointed.

To sum up quickly, it's the fact that motion gaming is largely about fun, and precision and fun don't seem to go that well together. On top of that, precision with no real 'feedback' relies on visual feedback, which seems lacking in things like TW11, which felt clumsy in it's use of the Move, and the precision seemed compromised as you could do some pretty imprecise things that where not detected. Sports champions table tennis is actually another example where the precision doesn't translate to the game that well, it's actually quite imprecise in your bat positioning, and only the spin etc are affected by the precision, the is a contrived/non 1:1 thing going on with your actual bat to table position that kills it for me.

On a positive note, Tumble is a great use of Move, it shows the tech of better then anything else, and Some parts of sports champions are brilliant, with the perfect amount of visual feedback to 1:1 move control that work well..

My young kids enjoyed 'The Shoot' better then all the other casual games, but this is too narrow in game play compared to Wii Play for example, which also has precise shooting elements that work equally as well.

If I didn't have a Wii, I'd be more impressed with it, but since I do have a Wii, I think it's clear that for most 'waggle' control the Wii does it better at the moment, namely because it captures the fun aspect of waggle control, and the games have had more time to polish the waggle interface.

I'm in for the long haul though, My only interest is Head tracking in GT5 (I guess not technically 'move' though), and I think small augmentation to mainstream games may be where it fits in better for me..

I think thats a no brainer. Especially if you already have a PS3. Looks good for family fun and some nice games coming out soon like socom4 which use it.

What do you mean "waggle" control? In terms of comparision the Wii is like your old SD tv and the Move being more like 3Dtv for technology. How can it be better?

Just got my all hooked up and did some table tennis and sports gladiator..

The gladiator is almost a bloody work out. I'm sweating and after an hours play I'm out of breath.. lol

Amazing fun, going to try the Heavy Rain demo and missus has got back with a second controller and she's giving the disc throwing game a go... First thoughts from us, and gf loves her Wii is that this is just as good, but with better graphics..

Instant hit on our household. Can't wait for Killzone 3, and the GT 5 head tracking.. Sony have surely got a winner on their hands here.

On paper, you are right, it's all in Move's favour..

But it's simple really, the accessible/fun aspect of Wii Sports for example doesn't exist in any Move title at the moment, and the use of the 'waggle' in Wii games is more polished in a lot of cases, less clumsiness, which I'm sure will improve in subsequent games on Move.

And the extra precision isn't used as well as it might in some games, table tennis for example has plenty of casual logic built in (even on harder settings) that make it quite imprecise in many ways, uber precision just doesn't seem to be what was actually missing from a lot of Wii games..

I don't think it's a Wii replacement at the moment, old/young people I think won't gel with Move, or even hapless gamers like my missus, this is the Wii's speciality, and why it's been so successful, that is all..

I'm in it for the long haul, and can see it steadily improving, but for my family, Move is not there yet, and the kids are back on the Wii today..

:)
