I'm Dyslexic. I was assessed when I was 15 in the 1st year it was recognised by the exam boards. at the time it was all new info and nobody understood it, least of all schools.
I've been re-assessed recently as my GF wanted to practice as she was doing her assessors course.
One of her definitions of Dyslexia is when the proven intelligence doesn’t match the written or reading ability, this is what Highlight it to assessors and they then work out with further test where the problem lies and come up with a plan to help.
Personally it’s never held me back (well except when the RAF recruiters wanted me to go into Air traffic control, which could see being a problem if I got a call sign reversed ) Dyslexics work around the problem and create answers. That’s why in some company’s actively recruit us for jobs that require thinking outside the box.
Dyslexia didn’t stop me becoming a Top IT consultant for a Major International company. Even though writing Tech Papers was a real pain and took me twice as long as most people. But then I could have just handed my notes to a grammar Nazi admin staff to sort out.
