Battlefield 2 still popular?

the last time i played a few months ago there were loads of populated servers still , bf2142 didnt kill it off and i doubt bfbc2 did either.

btw the last patch made the booster packs free so if you see the regular bf2 version cheaper just buy that.
 
Reinstalled this last week and was surprised how many active servers there are. Unfortunately, after playing this again I just cant stand playing BC2. Graphics aside this game is so much better than BC2 plus it really hammered home how annoying the over use of bloom is in that game.
Its like coming home again :).
 
Pretty much everyday, you get 64 player servers that are generally in the high 50's or even full. Though most of the time, it's mainly the Middle Eastern city maps, Strike At Karkand infantry-only servers most of the time, but there are some that have a nice rotation. The lack of China-based map servers is dissapointing though and even when you do find one, they have too high ping rates.
 
Taken a few mins ago.....as you can see, still huge amount of players...

Lots of people still go on it, as mentioned above. Still go on it quite a bit myself.
 
Not everyone has a pc capable of playing the latest games.:p

Bf2 is falling kinda into the same catagory as CS. It's got relatively low system requirements, so it's very popular with people who can't get/afford the latest hardware. Worldwide, that's a LOT of people.
 
I still play bf2 as well - i usually play on the atf sniperworld server...or other sniper related servers but nearly all the servers are populated whenever I'm going for a game.

I agree with Ampeg about BFBC2 - too many visual effects to detract from the gameplay imho - keep it simple - keep it fun!

BF2 will always be a winner for me!

Im generallly on Panda Nation most evenings, but has been going down every few rounds which means it isnt always full.

Kifferstubachen aint to bad but generally find it one sided a lot of the time.
EA DE Pornostars aint a bad server for me last night had decent hit reg.

Few other good servers but those i recommend for 64 player madness.
 
You can usually find me in "ATF Sniperworld" or "ATF Hump 'em and Dump 'em"

Though I've found another sniper server now - "=BDF=Warriors of Hell [sniper]" That's pretty good - usually pretty quiet though it's great when there's more people in there!

Might I also recommend the AIX2 mod - makes for a whole different game! it's brilliant!

I remember upgrading to an ATI x700 so I could play it on mostly high:eek:. Good old days, I think this and BF Vietnam are the only two PC games I properly put a lot of hours into.
 
I only play special forces now in battlefield 2, don't touch battlefield 2 original.. But i haven't seen many people play though away from these two servers
 
Folks,
I still play it. Last time I played it for 40 minutes on the Islands. Because I'm currently in Asia, so the nearest servers are Taiwan, Japan and Thailand. It's good fun, no more grenade spams that's what I was on about.
1 and a half year ago, there were still spammers and those who keep on killing near respawn points.
In a way this is good, because you don't really need to owrry about people who cheat.

Just playd the AIX2 mod apart from the two ranked servers hardly anyone else was playing it , i joined the ranked server but the ping was 150+ and at times very stuttery :(

Ah well back to SF
