Well apparently we are 5th fattest in the world which is pretty bad. Obviously US is top, Mexico is 2nd but surprisingly (for me at least) australians and kiwis are fatter than us! :) We have double the proportion of obese people as france.

Maybe we should have a poll, obese, chubby, or normal? :p

I don't get how the Italians stay so thin. A main part of their diet is pasta and pizza.

On my trips to Italy, it is a rare sight seeing an Italian chubber.

I'm surprised that the Aussies come so far up the list, my impression of Australian lifestyle is that exercise/sports and the outdoors are a big part of most peoples lives there?

I'm not convinced about BMI as a judgement on whether you're fat or not.

I'm 5'10 and just over 14 stone which give me a BMI of around 28.5- classified as overweight and bordering Obese... I wear 34" jeans, have a single chin and have a fairly stocky build - but more muscle than wibbly!

I'm sure some of the ultrafit, bodybuilder types on here weigh a fair amount but might have no lardiness about them whatsoever.

*finishes off lard-filled-pie for 2nd breakfast*

Aussies until 25 or so are fit and play sport, then real life kicks in, they play less sport but still drink huges amounts of beer/wine and consume huge amounts of red meat.

Italians don't just eat pasta - is normally reseved for the first course, with the main being fish or meat. And they still for the most part use fresh ingredients. Far less added sugar and junk.

BMI fails as a sole measure of obesity though.

I have a BMI of 31 but I can cycle 10miles each way to work every day no probs, run a 6 min mile stacked three times, have low blood pressure and resting heart beat pf 60bpm. In all other measurements, I'm very fit but according to my BMI I'm obese.

If you have been to an Italian restaurant (not a tourist hole) you'll see a lot of meat, fresh fish, salads and olive oil. They eat less junk than we do in general :/

Btw before the poll I'm 6ft and 12.5st so about normal I think :)

If we kill all the Fatties

There will be enough food to go around.:D

and we can use there fat to fuel power stations

A win win situation.

So will all you fatties que up at your nearest power station

6ft 4. 14 and a half stone. Skinny punk. Diet consists of pizza, coffee and cigarettes. Occasionally I break up the monotony with rollo cookies and a litre of cherry lucozade. I don't know where it goes. The first sign of a problem will probably be diabetes or a stroke.

As said before, incorrect. It's mainly meat, fish, salads with sauces. Going over to see family for New Year, cannot wait.

I think they should skip over BMI because it's useless as a measurment and go with Body Fat %.

EDIT: Checked out a calculator 31.4 BMI
6'2" @ 111kg~
I think i'm at something like 25% body fat, been a while since I checked. I'll check myself tomorrow morning now :D
