the UK!

Generally uk infrastructure is good and food is readily available everywhere and cheap compared to other parts of the world. Education is of very good standard especially at further and higher education level; though employers don't appreciate it anymore.

However there seems to be selfishness and rudeness on the rise especially among young people coupled with lack of respect and mild mannered people are pushed aside from job opportunities etc. Still UK is very much a divided society based on class with not much compassion.

Best things about the UK:

Invented the most widespread language in the world.
Invented pretty much everything else
Amazing History & Culture.
Biggest empire the worlds ever seen.
Best capital city in the world?
English Premier League
Great at Queuing
Best Museums and freeee entry
British TV
Country Pubs
Perfectly tolerable weather
Best Music scene

Worst things about the UK

All the minorities, chavs & religions ruining the country.
Wales & Scotland.

lol invented is a strange way of describing language.

English is derived from old germanic, with lots of french, latin, and some other stuff thrown in there for good measure:)

It is a kind of mongrel of the language world with lots of influences. It isn't the most widespread either, though it does have the largest amount of 2nd speakers.

Best capital city in the world?: Surely not, it's dirty, one of the most expensive, huge disparities in wealth and is far from representative of the rest of the UK.

I agree with the scotland and wales bit though:p

You think American roads are in better condition and better laid out than ours?

I cant say for the whole of america as a lot of the country is different state by state but I have done a lot of long distance driving in Florida.

Florida's highways were shocking to say the least massive pot holes, it felt like the car was shaking the whole way along most roads and road kill on a massive scale that never seems to be removed. And dear lord when I took a wrong turn into what I can only describe as Florida's hill billy land it was dirty track roads or small roads that hadnt had anything done to them for 20 or so years maybe longer. No wonder most people drive big cars out there.

I personally think our roads are amazing just shame about all the traffic on them :p

Best

Democratic and stable government. Things aren't perfect but we're one of only 4 Countries in the world have had the same uninturrepted government over the last 100 years (5 if you count Canada).

Despite our reduced size after losing the empire we're still very much an economic heavyweight in the world and punching well above our weight with regards to political influence (U.N. Security Council seat, U.S. relations, arguably biggest single influence in EU). Thanks to the British Empire and in modern times more because of U.S. influence like hollywood the English language is pretty much the de facto world language.

Institutions like the NHS and the BBC. There's plenty of room for improvement but on the whole they're both fantastic, have you seen foreign telly?

Music baby...

Worst

Modern media influence (tabloids and celebrity 'culture').

People are getting fat.

Transport.

Can't think of more right now..

I see see your point and agree to a certain level however your not really comparing like for like. the 2 countries you have mentioned are huge compared to our country so having a comprehensive rail system for Australia is hardly fair comparing it to England.

As for the single carriage ways in Australia how many time did you get caught in traffic between Sydney and Adelaide :p I agree with you Fox but there is always another side to a argument.

Ohhh I agree UK on the whole is fairly pants :p

I wouldnt expect a comprehensive rail system but more than one train a day between the two closest, large cities on the Queensland coast would be expected.

The point being that the UK isnt quite as bad as people say.

Hardly ever - I loved it - but you can hardly say UK roads are rubbish compared to the rest of the world when we have a comprehensive motorway network and other countries do not.
