Hot Sauce.?

I'll put this here as well as in the chilli thread as it is almost on topic. A few chilies I picked from the greenhouse today. Various Habs on the left and Trinidad Scorpion, Bhut Jolokia, Naga Morich, Dorset Naga and 7-Pod on the right.

Might have to make a hot sauce.

Sriracha/flying goose would be right up your street, nice warmth and packs a nice flavour. Comes in a nice big sqeezy bottle just like ketchup

Which reminds me i must buy some more, always run out of the stuff. Oh yeah most supermarkets seems to sell it but i find tesco's the easiest

On the topic of hot sauces, is there anywhere to get something which you can get a bit more lavish with. For example I like the hot chilli sauce as subway (even if it could do with being a bit hotter) but you can use it as you would tomato sauce. They also have similar things when you get take-away nachos etc at festivals, I had a chilli sauce at SW4 from the nacho stand and it blew my head off but was a similar sort of style! This was also off my face so I'd dread to think of my sober reaction :D

I don't see the point of these ultra hot sauces, if you can only use a drop or two in a meal. Surely they're just heat and no taste at all?

The only hot sauce I use is the tobasco habanero and original one. I put a good shake into spagbol and chillies and they add flavour to the dish as well as a bit of heat.

Daves insanity sauce.

The stuff is not made for pleasure - made everyone in a 26 man mess go wild with pain.

Avoid unless a sadist...

It's not painful at all, if it's used correctly and IN food, not ON food. Add a few drops to a chilli for example, and it adds a lovely flavour as well as heat, but it's not so hot that it hurts, and means you can make it as hot as you like :)

Dave's Insanity Sauce has a lovely fruity flavour, but it IS insanely hot as it is. I find three of four drops in a Chili is ideal.

I always thought I can handle hot sauces but I once tried my cousin's wife's jar of chilli sauce from Singapore - wow! Nothing compares to it not even raw chillis

That's it. The race is over. It's chemically impossible to get any hotter ! Not really a sauce, but worthy of inclusion.

What you will find inside the Famous Reserve bottle is amazing, a 1ml pharmaceutical grade vial filled with this Pure Capsaicin Crystal.

What on earth would you do with this?

......My staple hot sauce is usually Encona stuff.

Ditto, I had to start buying hot sauce again recently as I had and munched my way through 24 bottles of tobasco (in a way I am thankful as i was putting it on anything that would class as lunch or dinner)

Done the make your own hot sauce thing using a bag of each different fresh chillies tesco had when i went in, any left over went into olive oil with cloves of garlic (do not breath when adding it to a hot pan - tho using it to cook popcorn with is interesting)

People dont eat it for the taste, its the reaction and the fun of seeing someone in pain. Once you have it, you want someone else to have it, for the fun of seeing them in the pain you was in, its sadistic....end of.

My sister got me a bottle of Dave's insanity sauce. I find nandos extra hot and encona stuff really hot but enjoyable. The insanity sauce is just dangerous.
