Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

Doing it lap after lap is hard, which is why lifting is easier during the race.

bit more respect for bruno senna after playing this game :p

i dont now how they hit every apex of every corner of every lap bang every time and all from a view were you can see pretty much **** all.

im finding it hard and this is just a game.

Got a wheel today but I'm really struggling to get comfortable with it. Tried it on an ironing board, a desk, my lap and various other surfaces but everything feels awful. My arms and legs were killing after only a few minutes and I went back to a pad within 20 minutes :(

I was watching the Mark Webber F1 Simulator vid in the TT thread, and i was amazed at how he was so smooth and was able to talk his way through it the whole time. I play the game and if my girlfriend so much as sneezes i shout "Shut up im trying to concentrate!" while missing most of the apexes anyway :D

Tell me about it but then i've been playing Grand Prix 4 for quite some time so kinda knew what to expect.... The cockpit view in this game is the only view IMO to allow the correct hitting of apex's every other view you end up turning in too soon or too late..

Racing an F1 car as brundle says is like sitting in the bath and looking over the taps... I think codemasters pulled that one off IMO, and singapore in cockpit view is awesome.

Game engine etc is fantastic, but I do find the pit stops unfair and the penalty system is well off... I've had grid drops for stuff that wasn't even my fault..

Hopefully a patch will be released before it's too late and everyone has tired of the game..

Its a joy though having 24 cars to play around with, even if just a single race and not a career. Some of the tracks are really well done.

Agreed, how codemasters managed to keep the framerate up with so much ontrack including the quite frankly astonishing weather conditions is testament - I must say.

i'm going to admit I've now moved over to the PC version as mods are being released and this game has potential and I had a race at monza last night and it was intense.. On professional level with cockpit view at the start it's just awesome - and quick... Split second timing needed, and one mistake at the first corner and you'll put yourself well down the order....

I use a desk for mine.

A tip is to reduce the Steering Saturation to around 65% or less, this gives you about 180 degrees of steering, so you never have to turn your arms more then 90 degrees either way, you could reduce it even further to save fatiguing your arms. Also setting steering linearity to 35 (or as low as you can get away with) seems to help quicken the steering up as well, which is the the aim of game..

What wheel/console do your have?

Talbs13.. are you using Legendary AI, and no assists?

Have been using Professional from the start but will be switching to Legendary tonight to get a more realistic finish. I have TC ON. Not that brave yet :) Dynamic Corner Braking Zone on for the 1st year until I learn when to brake / turn in etc. All realistic options tyres, penalties, fuel etc.

If GT5 doesnt support triple screen then Id be tempted to go the PC route with Eyefinity and the mods the community will release for it will only make it better.

PS3 Wheel Owners Tip:
If you find it annoying trying to use menus and espically the replay with the wheel as its awkward. Use a controller and set it to No.1. The wheel will continue to also work on device 1. Ive found the "Navi" controller used for Move to be perfect as a remote/ menu navigation device for the game.

Had an annoying bug just now.. I was 12th in Melbourne and on the last lap picked up a puncture, which was all well and dandy as all I had to do was make it to the finish line. Anyway I made it but was then dropped to 24th! What the hell is that all about :(

let me guess you got the DF wireless? I tie mine to my lap. If you dont it slides all over the place. You also need to go into advanced wheel settings and mess about with them so its comfortable e.g. forcefeedback i upped everything to make it feel more weighty (except FF on environments) 0 or 5% deadzone

I think a LOT of people try too hard, on the 360 or PC as I have the game on both I find you just have to be smooth, not grip either the wheel or pad hard and relax and what's important is to build up a rythem, that is essential to a quick lap, visible markers not just the markers boards also are essential, it all adds up to those important hundredths and thousandths of a second.

You gotta be smooth, chilled, relaxed and in a groove, then you'll get the times, you can't just plug in, switch on and go fast, it takes time and effort for real pace...!

did some one post a load of settings for the wheel in one of the threads about this game?

You can still get the 360 wireless wheel from the high street catalogue shop, I picked one up yesterday. Go to their site and they say they are out of stock, but there is an option to have one delivered to your local store for pick-up. Guess they have some in a warehouse somewhere. They send you a text when it arrives, mine took three days. Makes the game much more enjoyable.

Thanks for that, couldn't see where you could have it sent to a local store but I managed to find one in store 10 miles from me £64.99, I reserved it. I will pay it because I see they are going for upto £125 now on ebay as they are discontinued.

Try a wheel stand pro ? I've ordered one, and waiting for it to be delivered. Received my PS3 and Logitech G27 today. Now just need a game to play on it - hopefully this one being delivered tomorrow.

Well that was a barrell of laughs! Started the Race at Monza. First Corner, Webber and Alonso had a smash up, followed by all the other cars going into eachother, while I carry on into the second corner!!! FANTASTIC!!! :D And then further on into the race, My team mate spins off and Button goes straight into Trulli!!! He wen't flying into the air!!

Hilarious!! This is a fantastic game!! Had 8 DNF due to the accident first corner.

lol, rain in Germany and I go out to try slicks in practice. The AI copies me and I just drive around car after car that has crashed into each other or driven off the track.

I just qualified in the dry at monza in 1.28. The race is wet and I'm started on inters, lapping at 1.29 consistently with rain coming down. I pull out a 20 second lead with relative ease and the AI start pitting for options with the rain still coming down. I didn't pit at all and stayed on the inters as the track dried and carried on putting in 1.29-1.30s.

Wet weather doesn't work all that well.
