Cod Liver Oil / Omega 3 Fish Oil?

The acids in the Omega 3 family, EPA and DHA, are richer in fish oil than in comparison to cod liver oil. Yes, it's true that there is a higher level of vitamin A and D, and others, in cod liver oil. Fat soluble vits can be stored there so that's where we reap the benefits.

Oh, btw, you can take far more than the measly usual guide of 1 - 3 capsules a day, remember children need even more DHA for brain function than adults.

Absolutely. I have been taking a 1 a day Cod liver oil/Evening Primrose oil capsule, 3 times a day  for the last 7 years or so - and it has worked wonders. It stops my joints being sore, definately reduces inflammation and virtually banished all the muscle/tendon swelling I used to get after excercise...... It's also extremely good for your circulation as it acts as a natural blood thinner (and you can actually see the difference in the blood clotting time when you get a cut)

In total I take almost 2000mg of Cod Liver oil per day - which consists 500mg of DHA and EPA (both of which have been proven to lower cytokines), plus 45mg of GLA (an Omega 6) from the Evening Primorose oil.

If you want to have any effect, don't waste your time taking 1 or 2 smallish size Omega 3 pills a day - it's pointless. You need to take a lot to notice the difference.

Problem is you can't guarantee your getting a desireable level of omega3 from this source alone without also ingesting too high levels of mercury and other heavy metals. Guide lines are around 300g a week but personally I think 200g max.

I'd be more concerned with mecury levels in Tuna than other fish like Mackerel and Salmon. As Tuna's pritty much top of the food chain (in the fish world) this would be the one to try not to eat too much of.

Fish oils are about the only supplement I truly rate. I take about 6g (6x 1000mg) super strength ones. There is no hype about them, our diets should include a LOT more fish, but it's just not feasible for everyone, whilst I eat 4 portions a week, it's still not going to have the same levels that I personally aim for.

Wish I liked fish but I cannot stand virtually all types I have tried. Some shellfish I get on ok with, and no, that doesn't necessarily mean it will elevate your cholesterol. ;)

'Higher Nature' have an excellent Fish Oil (liquid), one of thee richest I have seen for epa /dha levels. 'Tis lemon flavoured and I can honestly say I could not taste anything fishy about the taste. Tbh if you had put it in a yoghurt or dessert I wouldn't have been able to tell whatsoever.

Cod liver contains Vit A + D..and help build up resistence to infections...(but DOES NOT TREAT INFECTIONS)

Omega 3 contains heavier oils that helps control colesterol levels anf fats...healthy for arteries and the heart etc.

The stuff I just ordered has higher EPA/DHA and Omega 3 fatty oils than any 'fish oils' I've looked at.

Each 5ml serving supplies approximately:
Omega-3 fatty acids 1200mg, of which EPA 420mg, DHA 550mg, ALA 50mg
Vitamin A 900 IU
Vitamin D 400 IU
Vitamin E 10 IU

Going to have 10ml's a day me thinks! Will only last me 50 days though :\ Pretty expensive at £30. Might have to just have 5ml a day.

Looks like a rip off to me for what will be an over statment of "fact"

Norweigen Cods lol?...that makes no difference.

Cancel it...buy some value Cod and Omega 6 tabs...

Or the best source of all...well coooked fish.

The ONLY thing these require to make a real difference is consistancy and time.....you have to be taking these for a while before any difference or benefits are made.

Wut? Am I missing something? Seven Seas extra high strength pure cod liver oil has almost two and a half times more good stuff than that, and it's only about £3 in a supermarket for a massive bottle that'd last a month.

Average Values Per 10ml
Triomega® Fish Oil 5.5g
and Pure Cod Liver Oil 3.7 g
Providing Omega-3 Nutrients 2800 mg
of which EPA & DHA 2300 mg

Woah that looks great rainmaker, wish they did one that tasted of lemon! Weird that there's no vitamin A though :(

Edit- your one is per 10ml. Mine is per 5ml!
