This thread is a call to any cheese aficionados to divulge information on your current favourites. Currently along with one of my mainstays the Lincolnshire Poacher, I have some Ogleshield- West Country cheese made from Jersey cows' milk. Both these were picked up from Welbeck Farm Shop in Nottinghamshire which is well worth a visit if you're in the region. If you're big on pork pies the Stilton topped edition is a winner. Also enjoyed some Manchego recently, first time I've tried it- very creamy.

What delights have you picked up recently?

It's boring, but Cathedral City makes a good cheese on toast. Mmmmm.

Can anyone recommend a good stilton?

Some day, I'm going to build a spacecraft out of cheese; encase it in an outer hull of jalapeno and bacon, then fly it into the sun. The most delicious death ever.

Most recently, I had crackers topped with St. Agur and beetroot and ginger chutney. Amazing.

mmmmm manchego...

Difficult to choose a favourite, entirely depends on what it's being eaten with. (drink or food)

Cheese board with port usually consists of some mature Cheddar, white Stilton with apricots and a nice soft blue, typically Cambozola or Gorgonzola etc. Can vary depending on what variety of wine is being drank though.

I love cheese. :D

Sounds lovely- I've not had ginger chutney I don't think. Tend to go with a farmhouse pickle, sweet plum chutney or even red onion chutney. Which crackers- Jacobs? Thin oat crackers can go down a treat.

Sorry, I wrote that badly, it was 'beetroot and ginger' chutney, not just ginger! Still delicious though.

In this case it was the cream cracker, yes. I really like M&S's olive crackers through. Will give the oat ones a go.

I like Epoisses and Livarot.

Edit: little info:

Livarot is a very strong smelling cheese. The full spicy flavour gives the cheese a strong personality. Considered as one of the greatest world cheeses among some cheese lovers.

Commonly referred to as Époisses, it is a pungent unpasteurized cows-milk cheese. A washed-rind cheese (washed in marc de Bourgogne, the local pomace brandy), it is circular at around either 10cm or 18cm in diameter, with a distinctive soft red-orange colour. It is sold in a circular wooden box, and is best served with a good red Burgundy wine, or even Sauternes.

Napoleon was a particular fan of the cheese,[1] and the famous epicure Brillat-Savarin himself classed it as the "king of all cheeses".

Living in France I don't know how easy it is to get these in the UK.

I'm on some amazing Paprika Cheese at the moment from Asda's new chosen by you range.

I'm not a big fan of cheese, Red Leceister is my usual favourite.

I've just finished a nice block of Wensleydale with cranberries. Yummy.

Most of the time I have some Brie, mature Cheddar and some type of blue cheese in the fridge (normally Dolcelatte or Roquefort )

had some top drawer ayrshire blue with bramble chutney last week, can't remember the exact name of it now! worth trying to find...
also isle of mull cheddar is amazing for a bit of cheese on toast/rarebit

Has some gorgeous cheeses in a restaurant at the weekend, though at nearly 30 quid for 5 small samples they wanted to be

They were stunning unfortuantely I can't remember the names of any of them other than the Shropshire Blue

Was just looking for the Cheese menu but can't find it though this review suggests it wasn't just me that liked the Shropshire

At this time, a cheese cart rolled across our table - a novelty I hadn't seen on my last dining experience here. We ordered a selection of five cheeses at a cost of $35. It was served with bread and various spreads including apricot puree, membrillo, fig and almond cake, honeycomb, and candied walnuts. My favorite cheese selection was the Shropshire Blue. Flavorful and fantastically pungent without making the non-cheese connoisseur grimace
