It seems like every person I talk to that isn't a hardcore gamer but owns a Wii, is now bored to death of it. Was motion control just a fad? Will Move/Kinect bring motion control to the harcore/mainstream gaming community?

I can only see myself using move with games like Resi 5/Dead Space 2/Killzone 3 or any game that requires aiming a weapon at some dudes face.

Whats everyones thoughts on motion controls now?

i personally will only use the move for games like sports champions and hopefully they will bring more games like this out.
It does'nt interest me using it for role playing or shoot em up type games.

Looks good for some of the fighting games. And apparently it is brilliant for Socom 2 when tested.

I picked up a few controllers because my daughter likes some of the games and they can be a good laugh with the family and friends but nothing to keep you coming back to over and over if you play alone.

Will be interesting to see how they include it into future games but I hope that they dont try and over do it with all games. The day something like Fifa comes out with it I will post a giant

I don't care to be honest - Until they absolutely perfect it (Which will probably be when I'm 70 and can't play it anyway :p) I'd rather use a controller :p

Mario Galaxy would be a worse game with any other control method. The same goes for Lost Winds and the Metroid Prime trilogy (and various other games I could mention). So yeah, I still care :)

I did pre-order Kinect but thinking realistically, I just don't have the space in my room that it requires. :( So I cancelled it.

Good for me.

Just it's limited, the stuff i have for the wii is getting old fast. Problem is because of the static market on the wii, there's not going to be any drive quality anytime soon.

What microsoft are doing with kinetic is a start in the right direction, just the techinal limitations that need to be worked out over time, very much a first footstep.... but something i see evolving in to changing everything in the end.

10-20 years, as is with the controllers, might be a thing of the past. You only have to look at touchscreens and tilts to see how that might happen.

Problem with the wii, is for the most part its just a gimmick...a novelty item, which wears off after not too long. And is not really any good unless you get family/friends involved, which isn't great/practical all the time.

Plus the games are also quite gimmicky in my opinion. Nothing solid that you can play on your own and really enjoy it.

Dunno what move/kinect will do really, but not bothered initially.

Id like to see how KZ3 turns out using Move and 3DTV tbh.

Has to be like one of those moments like when games went Dolby Digital and become a technical milestone.

For some reason most motion control games are aimed at ultra casual gamers with loads of mediocre family orientated party games and thats why they didnt generally appeal to me. Luckily though the Playstation Move has Heavy Rain and Resident evil 5(its a start) already out and the upcoming Killzone 3, Little Big planet, Dead Space Extraction and Uncharted Games are supporting Move, so things should get better(assuming the move is well supported in those games).

I dont get Kinect as i dont see how you would practicallly control a third/first person hardcore game without any kind of controller for movement(Move has the movement controller with a joystick on, Kinect doesnt)

Only ever played on a Wii once, for about half an hour. That was enough.

A friend bought the Move starter pack and the sports games, and brought it round for me to have a look at on my PS3 the other week. Half an hour later, and I'd more than had enough of that as well.

When I play a game, I want to involve myself in what's happening on-screen, not in which direction my limbs are currently flailing.

My bro had a wii. It was fun for a bit but soon got boring. So I have no interest in any other motion controller.

Only ever spent a few minutes on a wii before, and wasn't reallt taken in.

Decided to pick up Move, and find it a bit more appealing, but actually still wondering if it was worth the outlay.

I quite liked Tumble, which I have not yet bought, and am currently playing through RE5. I never played RE5 before so am not sure if it's better or worse than with just controller. I must say that some of the control implementation is just odd - e.g. you normally aim with the wand, but when you use the rifle, you aim with left analog!

I have heavy rain coming some time this week, and will likely make my decision whether or not to keep Move after that.

As for Kinect, I certainly won't be picking that up on release - really need to see what they are going to offer game wise and see how people find it.

Because few games to date have made good use of motion control doesn't make it redundant. Imagine how good something like Oblivion or Die by the Sword could be with accurate motion mapping. Spending 5 minutes with the rather basic and ropey sword games in Resort clearly shows how much more suited this type of control would be.

There are already examples of great games that would be worse with any other form of control. There will be far more in a few years.
