instead of getting other people to justify their comments to you,
stulid,

If you state I am giving "bad advice" I am fully entitled to ask you to "justify" your statement . . . If you have good sound information that the Palit Card has a serious problem beyond one or two forum posts then you need to post your proof? . . . I don't take anything you say as being serious because time after time you have proven your reasoning is flawed . . .

If you can adjust your attitude and find a way to express yourself in a more postive fashion you may find me and you get along better but until that time we will clash again and again . . . It's sad to see such a new forum member carry on like they actually know what they are talking about but the truth is your knowledge is very little and your ability to separate fact from fiction is flawed beyond belief . . . one bad review and you write off a piece of hardware without really looking into it, this is nothing more than ignorance and you need to sort it out if you wish to serve the OcUK community to the best of your ability!

You have posted two links above which don't work . . . even if they did work is this your proof that the Palit Card are a write off . . .you need to try hardware if you want to be taken seriously! :D

Even if the card was more noisy under load than the slightly more expensive cards you could find a better way to express yourself and politely suggest it may be worth shelling out the extra £10 ish if silence was important . . . I am trying to look after Tonytank and get him the best deal possible for his personal needs and not just get him to blow a wad on hardware that offers him no benefit i.e 768MB vs 1GB GTX460 . . .

  • Intel® Core™2 Duo E6600 (2.4GHz)
  • Abit AB9 (Intel® 965 Express)
  • OCZ Platinum Rev2 XTC 4gb
  • BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB
  • Xi-Fi extreme gamer
  • Windows 7 64
  • im thinking about a cheeky upgrade i maybe able to sneak in here
  • Any advice would massively appreciated...
  • I am open to suggestions

man, so many choices to make...
Hello Tonytank :)

Looking at your spec and with the knowledge that both Intel® & AMD® both have next gen hardware about to be released in the coming months I would like to suggest an alternative plan of action . . .

I think if you play lots of modern computer games and you run at a high screen res like 1920x1200 the best course of action for the moment would be to overclock your Intel® Core™2 Duo E6600 up from 2.4GHz to at least 3GHz or higher and replace your GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB with a newer GeForce GTX 460 768MB . . . as I hope you have seen the price difference between the 768MB and the 1GB cards is really not worth paying (even if the OcUK salemen present want you to buy it!:p)

This would be a nice cost effective upgrade and allow you to hold off a big upgrade just at the moment and allow the next gen hardware to arrrive!

I would be happy to help you clock your system up, should be a 2-3 hour jobbie!

just try reading the owners comments of the Palit cards in the owners thread from real owners (or is that ex-owners now:D), the RMA's sent back due to noisy coolers, have you bothered to read through that thread? or are you just talking tosh?

why dont you breakout the pictures of the fifty pound notes again, im sure everyone would like too see them again, keep your mind games for your family as a 44 year old male acting like you is a sad sight indeed.

Guys come on. I really appreciate the help you have both given me, your insight and advice is invaluable, please just let it drop now.

And someone PLEASE tell me what im goin to buy is ok?

I appreciate your waiting idea Big Wayne but the truth is i think my old system is dead in the water now. So a whole new rig is really what i need. I could play the waiting game but I need the system now as I've just started uni and I need the rendering muscle.

My final choice. A £100 cheaper than my first basket choice too...im going to order tomorrow morning so if anyone has any suggestions or tips...now would be the time.
Hey Tonytank,

I have a feeling your about to blow £352.91 that you may not need to . . . did you read my post above? :)

I'm still not sure wht your wanting a 1GB GTX 460? . . . I'm trying to save you money but not gettig much feedback from you in the chaos that is this thread! :D

I have read in several reviews all over the net that the 1GB model will come in handy later on.

why not ask the MORE knowledgeable people in the graphics card forum, as one or two individuals clearly haven't used the hardware being discussed here, this has been discussed to death weather the 1gb is worth the extra, the general consensus is that it is.

you will get a no nonsense answer in that forum, without the trickery

Ok, if you want to pay £50 for something that offers you no benefit today but may do later on then be my guest . . . I would have thought it would be better to save the £50 for the new cards that come out next year (i.e "later on") that utterly smoke the GTX 460! :D

General consensus lol! :D

Do you think we are sheep stulid of individual capable of critical thinking? . . . why are you trying to get Tonytank to spend money with OcUk store he maybe doesn't need to? . . . are you giving advice that serves his best interests or?

ive told him what to do, ask in the correct forum instead of listening to some members continually blab on and on.

just the other day someone asked what card to get, I recommended the ATI4970, but was put right that Crysis will easily fill that video memory up and a 1gb GTX460 will be much better despite the cost difference
