I think its perfectly fair to debate the video... most of what goes on in court is far from factual anyway.
So everyone is lying?
The police officer
The police officers boss
The guy who it happened to?

I don't see anywhere in the video where he makes any attempt to signal the guy to stop - I've never seen a policeman try to get a cyclist to stop without making distinct hand signals.
He sped up to get out the way of the cyclist it was obviously one of those situations where neither quite knew quite what the other was doing. At the moment of impact the officer put out his hands to protect himself. Its very clear if you watch the video with an open unbias mind.
The cyclist is the one who should if any be done for assault even in the US they should give way to pedestrians instead he tried to rush on through even tho the officer had been moving towards the pavement for several seconds - long enough for them to slow down and let him get out the way.
Now was the cyclist a known criminal or wanted on a warrant of some mind, who can tell so while I am not dating that the Officer was not justified in his actions, those action were clearly not accidental as you contend.
Sorry Rroff but you are wrong on this one, the cop knew what he was going todo he even took big steps to move into the cyclists path then stuck out his shoulder to knock the block off his bike.
Nothing sort of an assault that, cop should lose his job.
Perhaps the copper is telling lies.
He picked out his target and then made that up.
Did the cop not offer any reason as to why he did it?
****s and giggles.Did the cop not offer any reason as to why he did it?

Do be quiet. I've watched that back about six times now and it's clear as anything that the police officer intended to knock the cyclist off. He saw him approaching and was beginning to place himself to do just that, there is not indication of the officer ever intending to simply reach the pavement. To say otherwise is just complete rubbish.
In fact, if you watch the video from the start, you can quite clearly see the officers looking for someone. I'd wager a guess that the officer thought the cyclist was the person they were looking for.
Still, stupid thing to do.
Its painfully obvious some people are just so blinkered by hatred for "authority".
I can't believe people think the officer intentionally and pre-meditatedly knocked the guy off... watch the officer on the right... they clearly decide to move to the pavement and then due to mis-judgement on the part of the officer and cyclist result in an unfortunate collision. There is no assault.
I can see how it might look like assault if you don't watch the officer on the right too.
The copper doesn't say anything to him until he's on the ground. I can't believe anyone can be seriously thinking that was an accident. The copper looks right at the guy, moves over to where he's heading and then takes him out.
