Something you dont see everyday

As cool as that car is surely you don't get many world leaders or P-Diddlys browsing PH looking for second hand or unwanted super limos.

That must be a hard sale.

That will be a hard sale. All the tech in it is at least 5yrs old and its non armoured.

Cool though but even if i won the Euro lottery I wouldn't buy it.

Especially not for that price.

its being sold as the most expensive S class on pistonheads, 0 miles un registered or not, its full of 5 year kit and looks dated. No idea who is going to cough up the £100k for that.

It'll go to one of these rent-a-limo companies for stag/hen nights.

I doubt it seeing how A H2 Hummer Limo would cost significantly less to buy and properly rake in more work due to having slightly more "Wow" appeal than a old Mercedes Benz.

Really, I have no idea how they are going to sell that at all, let alone at that price.

The car has been started and moved back and forwards (to prevent tyre flat spots) every week . This also prevents the cars ECU's from failing

And is one of the worst things you can do (imo) to a petrol engine!

I can't think of many things that would be more harmful to a vehicle than 5 years of the above useage - or lack of!.

I bet the engine bores are ruined already !!!!

£99k? Yeah! right.:p

Quite clear nobody here understands this cars market - it will sell, eventually, probably for a significant amount of money. Sure the 'tech' is '5 years old' but the people in the back having a meeting don't care about that and besides, the equivilent car in current shape form would be closer to £200,000 anyway. It's a specialist car for a specialist market.

It's not for people like us to drive around in, so it's hardly suprising we all go LOL I WUD NOT PAY 99k FOR DAT LOL

Serious question:

Do you really think that the people who will be sitting in the back of such a vehicle will actually be happy to be seen in a gold Merc that is nearly 2 generations old? I know I sure as hell wouldn't!

W220's are still used today for ferrying people more important you'd imagine around. To most, its 'a luxury car'. Our PM resigned in a W reg Jag!

Thats not a bling limo, so the people sitting in the back of that will be serious people, not party goers looking to make an entrance.

So no, they wont care what its like as long as the phone and fax work.

The car cost in excess of £270000 to build and is a unique opportunity !!

For what you get, its a bargain. If you want to bling it up and 'be seen' in the latest Merc, you can spend almost 3 times more for the current shape equivilent. I bet it isnt 3 times the car.

It is, however, for very specific purposes. Purposes nobody on this forum will ever really understand or ever be in a position to really understand/.

You are right. I don't understand. I don't understand why people who are seemingly so important/wealthy are willing to be driven about in what is an old car just to save a couple a quid. I always thought once you reached this sort of level you'd want the best and damn the expense (within reason)?.

I just can't see someone who is tasked with a sizeable budget for such a vehicle is going to see that and think "You know what, I'll forget that it is old. I'll forget that it is painted gold, It's a bargain. I take it over something far newer built to my clients' specific specifications".

The problem I'm having understanding is a "That'll do" attitude when spending 100 bags of sand to ferry very important people about.

Josh that car is never going to be used for its intended purpose now (head of state)

It will end up in Moscow with a few lumps in the back selling some guns and coke, they dont mind that its painted gold, trust me.
