Just Been Fired for NO REASON!

To be honest, whilst suspending him has made this thread initially quite amusing, it has ultimately ruined it :(

I don't think swearing should be starred out, people know it's not allowed, and it's a good sign for the forum community in general that people are usually able to refrain.

Bad bit of moderation imo banning him without a warning, I guess the moderator was trying to be shocking or something? Like "LOL LOOOK I JUST BANNNED HIM AFTER HE POSTED ALL ABOUT HIS BAD DAY >_<!!!!!! LMFAO!!! OMG!!!!!!" etc.

With the popularity of this Forum, would it be too much to ask to implement a simple device that blocks swear words? Jesus Christ, even the crappy JBit forums have them.

He didn't actually write the full swear word, so it won't be a lengthy ban (48 hours IIRC) and would have circumvented any filter.

Just do not swear, it's not necessary and only shows a lack of vocabulary.

Sometimes it is necessary, for example if you never swear you can use a swear word to emphasise just how angry/upset you are.

It's got very little to do with a lack of vocabulary - in fact if you can commit the entire Viz Profanisaurus to memory you'd be a quite formidable Scrabble opponent.

Usually when I see that a mod just comes along, edits the post and writes something along the lines of "swear words must be fully starred out" in yellow text.

Poor guy, fired and zealously suspended in the same day :p

No idea how you can walk away with attitude though, unless you pimp swaggered out of the office :D

Waiting for the next part of the story, when he's called up and his boss is wondering why he's not at work, he tells the story and it turns out the office prankster who he'd not met yet just pretended to fire him, then the real boss fires him for missing work.

In reality, some boss's are just scum, and maybe they were just looking for two weeks cheap work, get rid of someone and do it over and over again, save paying anyone a full salary.

Let's be fair, he seems to have been paraphrasing for story telling usage and it's quite likely the boss told him to "insert sweary" off out of his garage.

In the grand scheme of things not the worst case of rule infringement.

He was doing agency work. All that needs to be said is "go home", they don't need to fabricate an excuse.

Fixed.

Fixed, For how they treat babe threads, that's the impression i get anyway.

This is a family forum, there's 9, 12, 15 year olds sitting with their parents who have never seen a women before and clearly have no access to Google or the abundance of free porn sites out there.

I am very saddened by some of the replies of fellow overclockers aimed at OP as he is also part of this forums community:(.

Should have just given him a warning. Now he is likely to have a grudge against OCUK. Looking at some of the replies you do wonder what the world is coming to.
1) Gets fired from his job after searching for a long time

2) Gets suspended from the forums for venting his anger and making an unintentional mistake

3) Gets some really unhelpful replies thrown at him:(:(.

Treat everyone the same way then. It's hardly fair to warn some but suspend others. I've seen a fair bit of favouritism going on in my time here, either that or the mods simply don't communicate with each other about the proper way to handle different situations.

Anyway, I didn't put the 'over' on zealously, someone else did. I happen to think the moderation on this forum is pretty damn good and the only reason it's become an issue in this thread is because the OP can't post to answer the questions his OP has raised.
