Well actually Colin McRae had an Impreza 22B which he actually had to buy from Subaru, and used to use it often as a daily runner. The WRC car was what he drove to make a living.
Well I'm only in the idea stage atm, haven't sat in either or read about them yet , was just seeing if they were available in budget.
I also wouldn't mind a classic mini cooper.
You mean the original mini?
I'm shocked at the price of these. I thought of one just as a little knocking around town car and the prices are amazing. I've even noticed theres a fair few coming over from Japan now satisfy demand.
Some chinese lad in town has a green mini with really wide gold minilites and got a turbo engine of some kind. Very odd seeing this little thing hurtle around down with the TSSSSHHHH dump valve. Might be chavvy but on a mini it seems like the best idea ever![]()
varied bloke aren't you
Well I'm not buying with a specific purpose in mind, just cars I like the look of, then i can narrow it down and research.
It seems you can only shop for cars that are the same speed or size.
If performance is the most important consideration for you then an Impreza Wagon is a good choice. If you're willing to buy a classic then £3k should get you a my99/my00 car http://bbs.scoobynet.com/private-for-sale-cars-352/840774-classic-my00-uk-wagon-for-sale.html is a good example, it's an old advert but it shows you what is available. This would leave you with some 'back-up cash' in case something goes wrong, always a good idea when owning a performance car like an Impreza. Depending on how much you value interior quality and comfort you may not like a classic, it's very basic inside but the pay off is that it is an exciting car to drive and has a 'raw' feel to it. As has already been said though running costs are not cheap, in the last year I've spent £4500 on mine and I only cover 6k miles a year! Be prepared for buying new tyres/brake pads/discs every year (expensive if you want quality stuff), regular servicing including changing the oil every 6 months, expensive insurance, 20mpg or less average fuel economy + trying to resist the temptation to mod the car (I thought I would be able to keep it stock when I bought it but that didn't last long!) Unless you're willing to spend the cash to maintain an Impreza properly then you may be best off looking for something a little slower/more sensible.

Just thought i'd take the rare oppertunity to correct you
I'm sure the OP simply meant the Subaru Impreza in general, which was basically made famous by Colin, even if the first times he really appeared on tv he was driving a Legacy. He could also have been talking about the Colin McRae edition of the Impreza.
