Im contemplating selling this system as the games for the xbox just seem to be gettting worse. The ps3 seems a far better fair to entertain than microsofts xbox360. Would you agree? or would you counter this argument and state whether there are any worthwhile gems exclusively coming for the 360?

Why is it getting worse? Both have equally good exclusives and the 360 generally is better visually when it comes to multi-platform games.

You know this is just going to turn into pointless bickering right?

Being a bit of a ps3 fanboy myself I would say that it's lineup has got a lot stronger over the years and is now at least on par with the xbox (well for a while now imo). But the big pull of the xbox is it's extensive back catalogue and it's a cheap system to buy. Why sell it when you can have the best of both?

I'm completely bored of the majority of games now, I think the past 3 three years, COD and FIFA have occupied my time.

Whats the 360's good exclusives?

I can only think of Gears and Halo?

Even Mass Effect has now gone.

Splinter Cell! :)

I think there are only a handful of games on each platform that are exclusives, so for the majority it doesnt really matter... personally all I get all my gaming needs from my xbox fine - but then I dont like MGS or GT games so I am not really missing out... on the other hand I love Halo and Splinter Cell and Mass Effect (I realise the latter is not really an exclusive now) - equally I think Gears is really quite dire...

Agreed its somewhat lacking now, But the exclusives it has to date are still great.

Simply put, We cant tell you what console to have and not have, If the console has become stale for you then obviously get rid and get a PS3.

Personally, I'd aim at having both. But that's me

Yeah I think it best way. Now when games dont appeal I just take a break rather then constantly looking for good games. There's always something that brings me back.

Mass Effect 1 is still 360 exclusive, Forza, Splinter Cell and Fable just of the top of my head now.

I mean the PS3 has only GT5, MGS4, Uncharted, Killzone and GoW that are actually good imo.

Like I said they both have their own good exclusives. I'm not siding with either.

That's a good attitude and pobably keeps a longer lasting interest there.

Some very valid points though, from everyone

Halo Reach came out less than a month ago and Fable III is coming out in a couple of weeks.

The last half decent PS3 exclusive I played was Heavy Rain and that came out over over 6 months ago. What recently released PS3 exclusives have made you think this way?

This is a bit of a pointless thread, just sell the 360, get a PS3, and enjoy :D

The exclusives do ebb and flow a bit, just get a PS3 and play it's back catalogue and upcoming exclusives, if the situation changes for you later on, and you see some 360 stuff coming along later that you fancy you can re-evaluate then..

Personally, I'd say if you want a constant gaming fix, get both consoles, you can get a 60Gb 360 with 1 year warranty for well under £100 these days, that's only the price of a couple of games.. 2nd hand PS3's are under £150 as well, so for a little over £200, you can have both..

This is always going to turn into a back and forth match isnt it.

Because I can name more recent exclusives on PS3 than I can 360, that is exclusives I like.

God of war 3, Heavy Rain and Demon Souls, these are all currently released and I used them as they were released at the same times as heavy rain or after, which you used as an example.

On 360, I can't name a game I've wanted to play massively since Mass Effect 2, edit // Which I should add i just remembered is out on PS3 :D

I honestly cant think of a recent 360 exclusive that has grabbed me, I thought I had one in the form of Dead rising 2 then, but thats multiplatform aswell now lol

there are games i would buy on 360 that are cross platform due to my brother owning a 360 and no PS3.

Everything just depends on what an individual likes, wants and needs.

I want like and need a PS3, but I just like a 360. 2 years ago, I wanted liked and needed a 360

Demons Souls was out last year and GoW was what, April? GT was due out but has now been pushed back another couple of months.

The OP made the point the PS3 was in the driving force atm with exclusives and whilst I'd agree it had a great start to the year I'd argue it's been shocking since. At least the 360 has had Reach and will see Fable III and a dozen Kinect exclusives (not re-releases for Move) soon.

Hell, there's even articles like this: http://www.gamersmint.com/lack-of-e...-hurt-ps3-and-wii-as-360-dominates-with-reach pointing to the fact that the PS3 is hurting for exclusives this fall.
I understand you're a one console guy so any exclusives not on your console like Halo, Fable, Crackdown, Metro 2033, Limbo etc. aren't really your thing but putting the PS3 on a pedestal for current exclusives is questionable.

Then end of the year PS3 wise is a bit barren, but we still have 6 or 7 move games, the sly cooper collection, Prince of persia collection HD, and the advertised but not confirmed Mortal Kombat and Splinter Cell HD collections, and with GT5 prob coming out before the end of Nov it wont need any more games until Jan when LBP2 comes out.

xbox slightly better performance
ps3 slightly better exclusives

It could be a straight draw. But its not.
I'll never buy a cross-platform title on ps3 because of that joke of a thing they call a gamepad.
