1920x1200 x2MSAA. Max everything else including DX11=High. Still over 30FPS on my 980X+GTX480 :D As you can see this is a new benchmark for visual quality on PC & looks very good in places  These are only highly compressed jpegs but in motion the game looks very crisp/clear in DX11 & the Tessellation effects bring a whole new level of detail to the PC  Its the best looking PC game I have seen this year so far (and likely to remain so in 2010).

Some of the work Capcom/Nvidia have done with DX11 is simply breathtaking. Smoke, fire, debris, explosions are all the best I have ever seen in any computer game to date. DX11 also brings certain textures a more lifelike quality as they have a lot more surface texture & look more realistic. This game also has plenty of 720P low res console textures :( where they did not spend any time re-rendering for DX11 but overall the gfx are still very good all the way through. If you have a DX11 gfx card this is one game which will help showcase it.

I hope all future PC games go DX11 as this is going to bring a whole new layer of graphical excellence to PC gaming :D Its amazing how different in motion it looks vs DX9. There is a definite blur to DX9 & lack of sharpness regardless of textures & AF levels so I guess DX11 must do a lot to enhance the low detail quality via Tessellation. Whatever the tech reasons are the results are stunning here its noticeable (and I am a very jaded gamer so it takes a lot for me to be impressed nowadays ;)).

Looks like they've gone a bit overboard on the bump mapping in some of those screenshots, as if somebody has sneezed over everything :)

I take it one should wait until upgrading to DX11 hardware before getting this then?

Well the original Lost Planet has notoriously bad performance so it is to be expected really, although to be fair it also scaled extremely well with multicore cpus, SLI graphics etc. I'd imagine SLI GTX480 is pretty much essential if you want good performance in LP2.

It looks like everything has had a few coats of varnish.

Just a few? Maybe it looks better moving, but these screenshots are awful.

And couldn't the OP have just stuck this in his other Lost Planet 2 thread a few steps down? :)

Can't say it looks that impressive, guessing it may be better in motion. Other than that it just all looks very shiny.

anyone else find the "keyboard and mouse enabled" tag on a third of them rather depressing :(

Also sick of the current gen being SHINY!!!! seriously do people in game worlds no days wax and polish their face before they go out on their killing sprees?
