I've never played Fallout 3 properly, will this throw me off the storyline?

I can only afford one purchase, I think I'll add this to my rental list and purchase Fable 3. Hmm

Completely separate story to Fallout 3 so you can play in any order
 
Bit concerned about all the issues with the game :(

I wish I had held off now as I really don't want to start playing until I know the patch is out..

If I had the money I'd be buying it in an instant. There were loads of issues with Fallout 3 on the consoles and on PC, if you read all of the issues that have been documented then you wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. However, it was one of the best games I've ever played, just bite the bullet and buy the game, don't expect the developers to release many patches as with Fallout 3 they turned a blind eye toward the majority of the issues, especially on console.
 
I never had any major problems with Fallout 3 or the GOTY edition. I had the odd lockup and a couple of enemy glitches i.e stuck in the scenery. If Fallout NV is only half as enjoyable then I will be happy.

I also brought Fallout 3 on release for the PS3 so I'm well aware of the problems the game will bring, but at least with Fallout 3 they patched it and apart from one lockup I didn't have any issues. Problem is due to that experience I would rather not start the game until it's semi-sorted.
 
I've ordered the PS3 version.. sod it, F1 2010 is a bug ridden game, but I've enjoyed that - just work around the problems.... So I'll enjoy this too... I like the idea of the game, it looks good and getting decent reviews... Why not..!! anyhow, read they are going to release some patches for it, so who knows.

Keep me busy until GT5 arrives... so I've got a lot of time on my hands for gaming then.. lol:D

@ skippi90 - didn't your PS3 die? Was that you? How did you get on with Sony if it was you. did they offer you a replacement at a decent price? Sorry to ask here, just interested as Sony support isn't good and wondered how you got on...
 
Lovefilm have just sent me this as part of my free rental trial, that's underhand, now I have to seriously consider taking out a proper subscription, I'll never even scratch the surface before my trial ands on 4th Nov!!

Got it repaired by a 3rd party. Then a week later, recieved a letter from Sony asking me to consider reactivating my cover at a reduced price. :p
 
PC version already has a patch out, so hopefully the Console version will get one too. Mine is on it's way by First class, so hoping to play it tomorrow :D
