Clio 200 Cup via finance

Personally I'd get the Civic, both cars are about the same speed, about the same size, about the same fun to drive and about as nasty inside as each other.

The only difference is the years they were made and how new . Spend a little longer looking for a good Civic Type R and although over 3 years it won't save you much it'll at least save you some money.

My opinion anyway.

PS My excess on my 1.4 Fiat is £1400, what do I win?

What sort of aged Clio and Civics are you talking about?

They are awesome, but have you seen how quickly they wear? I saw a few in the Renault dealers with only a couple of thousand miles on and all were worn on the drives seat bolster.

Probably fat people scraping past it when they get in and out the car? My recaro bolsters were fine on my 10 year old Civic, yet i'd seen cars even newer than mine with crushed/wearing thin bolsters.

Never understood wearing bolsters, some people are just careless. I could understand them wearing if it was heavy use on a track or something but for a daily driven car...just climb in and out of the seat properly.

Have you driven either car Peerzy?

That post would suggest not?

Driven both (30min~ test drive for both) - thought they were very similiar.

@mr tommo - I was talking about a brand new Clio200 and the old shape Civic Type R (2002 till 2005 or 2006) which is what I've driven and

Gear stick position in the Civic is better, and the whole interior tbh. No chance of the timing belt snapping and taking the engine out with the Civic (not heard of a chain snapping where as the Clio belt snapping isn't uncommon).

Clio is easier to drive fast. You need to work the Civic harder but isn't that point of a hot hatch? There isn't a lot in it performance wise though, I think the Civic edges it.

I think you get more for your money with the Clio though. You can get an 05 182 for 4500 these days, that'd probably get you a 52/03 CTR with a fair few miles on it.

Oh if it was between a used Clio and a used Type R it would be the Type R easily.

It is only this deal that has tempted me to a Clio. The draw of a fast brand new car and totally hassle free motoring for 2 years is very tempting.

After doing the numbers , both would cost about the same over the two years but i would just be left with no car at the end if i went with the clio.( So yes , as long as the Type R doesnt chuck loads of expensive bills my way, it is the cheaper option.)

Completely agree, love the interior and driving position in the civic.
Overall I chose the EP3 due to a more 'complete' package in my opinion, although if I ended up with a clio I'm sure I'd be happy too! Both great cars.

Maybe in terms of stats and figures they're similar, but they are completely different to drive!

I've no idea what the stats are, they were both had rubbish interiors, pretty small, the Civic obviously had Vtec and that going for it but the Clio felt quicker down low in the rev range.

Both had back numbing suspension setups (no idea if the Clio was Cup or not), Civic had a better gearbox and the pedals were much nicer.

I am a little confused. Does the cup includes the racing seat?

My car is probably worth 1500 pounds trade in. Is it possible to use my car for 999 deposit and rest to reduce the monthly cost?

How much for option air condition?

Have to agree that the interiors aren't quite up to german standards, but IMO the Civic tops the Clio interior.
The civic suspension isn't that hard? Okay I wouldn't like the tour across Europe in it, but certainly been in far worse cars.

The roads I drove on we're just standard roads round Guildford and Woking, a lot of B roads with twists and turns but then the Slyfield estate before it got redone and that was terrible.

Was a noticable factor for me with both cars.
