****Official Fallout New Vegas Thread****

This game has just took me nearly two hours to actually work out what the hell I was doing... lol I couldn't find a map, work out this VATS thing or anything.

Anyhow, got it worked out and now I'm getting on ok, and I think the graphics on the PS3 version are good, and not seen a single screen tear but the game does micro stutter in places..

Other then this, yep I can see me playing this to the end, looks to be a very good game. Yes, not played much fallout before so I had a bit of a shock for my first few hours.. lol thankfully game does give a lot of help onhand - its needed.. Was for me.

Do side-quests show up in the pipboy? I had a guy approach me to help him with his girlfriend who was surrounded by animals, but there was no waypoint on the map and he just wandered off

Just had the game crash for the first time! Haven't got access to xbl at the minute so dunno of the update solves the freezing problem?

I just done that little side mission it's not a quest.

Spoiler

He just wants the stash up on top of the hill once you've cleared the are of geckos.

I won my first game of Caravan yesterday. :D

Ive one 10 in a row since watching the video, got over 8000 caps :)

Thank you... I had no Idea... think I get it now... :p

Just concentrate on getting 2 of your 3 decks to 26 and sabotage the other guy with the face cards :)

Ive just had it crash on me though, i had just dicovered 188 Trading Post and when i went to trade with Michelle it froze so you might want to save before you trade incase it happens to you. Was fine talking to her but as soon as i said "Let me see what you have for sale" it slowed down and then locked up.

I've had a few hard lock ups, usually going into VATS, which required powering down the X-Box. Also had some amusing graphical glitches:
- A gecko died and fell through the ground in the cinematic
- After reloading in Good Springs after the Powder Gangers had been defeated all of their corpses starting bouncing up and down like they were filled with bouncy balls
- Two gangers panicked after I threw some dynamite at them and started running into eachother and just sort of stuck there

Hardcore so far hasn't been a massive challenge. A pretty low score allows you to make gecko steaks at the campfire which sorts your food and a few bottles of water is all you really need. Suppose it might be an issue if you plan on lugging a gatling laser and missile launcher around with you.

Every person i go to says i can't play them cos i need like 30 experience in it or sommit.

Where can i go to start caravan?

You need to acquire 30 playing cards first, which are pretty easy to find. Most traders have them.

Not sure if you need the same casino brand for all of them though.

Ringo in Good Springs was the first I came across.
And he'll give you a spare deck so you can get playing too.

That the guy in the gas station? See i went to him, and didn't take the caravan dialogue tree with him first, now it never appears :(

I take it you guys know about the glitch in the quest - that lucky old sun where you finish the quest and the same dialogue keeps coming up - big deal you say but you get 2 doctors bags and 3 stimpacks each time + 350xp's ooh dear another patch required methinks :p .

Shameful copy & paste

You need Speech of 30, Repair 35 or the perk Confirmed Bachelor. You must also be on the good side of NCR. Go to HELIOS One and the lady should automatically talk to you. Once she allows you access HELIOS One, you should be able to start the mission "That Lucky Old Sun". Follow the mission and talk to Fantastic and Ignacio Rivas. While talking to Rivas make sure you get him to reveal that he's a Follower of the Apocalypse by using Speech or Confirmed Bachelor and agree with his ideals about peace or just say you're neutral. Do the mission regularly until you get to the point where you activate the Mainframe Terminal. Configure the Power Grid to "5) Full Region (Emergency Output Level). Finish the mission by hitting the Reflector Control Panel outside on top of the tower. Go back to Ignacio Rivas and choose the option "I overloaded the plant. No one.....". The glitch is that the option never disappears, so you can choose to keep pressing it.

Done about 8 hours since picking it up today :) loving it, familiar and new at the same time

One thing that is bugging me, is some of the notes I pick up dont appear in the pip-boy.. I was sure a guy gave me a holotape with the caravan rules on, can't find it :(

packs of wolves are a PITA though, as is taking on a load of legion's

As much as I am absolutely itching to play this after being a MASSIVE fan of Fallout 3, I just think it may be worth waiting a while until more of the performance issues are solved on the Playstation 3. By that time I'd expect a Game of the Year edition to be out too. Although I really don't see myself resisting a purchase for that length of time. :p

Story is coming alive now. There's so many possibilities and I've found myself switching allegiances several times.

Bad side - 4 crashes today. One of which just immediately went to the XMB.

Yeah i think the storys a lot more interesting than Fallout 3, ive found myself restarting some missions to see what happens when i make a different choice.

Two crashes for me so far today and that was a looooong session so not too bad. Seen a couple of glitches at the Vault 21 Hotel where people would be sleeping and sitting in mid air next to the bed/chair :)

Also noticed corpses all of a sudden bouncing up into the air while playing today :D

Shame that there is a ending. I keep feeling I have to stress it to make sure I don't anger anyone so that I can't do some of the side quests. Can't wait for when the DLC that removes that is released!

Is it me, or is this a lot harder than Fallout3?

I have died countless times, especially from feral ghoul packs, which in F3 were not that hard.

Anyone tried and succeded to get to New Vegas along the highway, early in the game? :)

Deathclaws are a PITA. Went the long way around, and the giant radscorp are a PITA too! Magnum / Cowboy rile using magnum bullets are a godsend!
