The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Went on a solo roam of low sec in a Hurricane yesterday, first time I've flown one properly (only recently got T2 autocannons)
Nice ship to fly, started shooting a drake that had gate aggro and nearly finished him off before he jumped. Damn him. lol. Didn't get a single kill in the end :(

Was finished off prematurely by a gate camp of 30+ ships. doh!

Managed to give some random person 300mil last night as I spelt my own character name incorrectly...! Knew I should've gone bed rather than trying to finish some stuff off.

LOL. I didn't get it. :(

Add your other character to your contacts then right click their face and select 'give money'. You don't have to type in the name of who you want to send money to.

Have you asked for it back? Long shot but you never know!

Have a feeling I've already mentioned this, but a while ago (pre Oc-PS) I pulled the tritanium scam. I.e. I listed a single item of trit for a randomly large number. In the olden days, you couldn't use decimals of isk, so trit was always 1isk per unit. Some guy bought it, thinking it was 100mill odd units at an isk a piece. He mailed me afterwards, saying "wow, what a fine piece of trit!", congratulating me on my cunning scam, but mentioning that he'd been saving up for something or other and would have to hold off on his plans. I felt so guilty I send him the isk straight back! (might have been most of the isk back, i forget)

So yeah, might be worth a shot at asking for it back!

WOW, good to see that EVE is still very popular :D

I used to play it from the start including BETA, played for like 4 years solid then RL took over  Even created the IFC ad for the first official EVE mag (can't remember the actual name !)

Still got my account and keep getting offers for free 3 month activation, but would never get enough time do get back into it again and i expect it would take me the 3 months to learn whats new ! lol

Anyone know hoe long all my kit stays active for?

Either way, good luck all and miss the good times !

Thanks,

Shamberg

Indefinetly afaik. I was absent for 5 years and it was all good when I came back.

Eve is funny in that way... I felt a bit bad about killing that guys sleipnir he had a nice setup on it - but at the end of the day he was flying about lowsec/whs.

My opinion is always - If you enter lowsec/nullsec (and therefore viewing, and oking the warning dialog box) you are effectively consenting to PvP. Not sure if you get the same warning on w-space though.

As for hisec, carrying a bill of a loot in an undefended ship is like the securicor guy showing up at a bank and wheeling away bags of cash in a shopping trolley. Wearing a t-shirt that says "gank me".

Haha nice, all my stuff still scattered throughout. I know that i nearly had ten BS's all for different stuff. I left about 6 months after T2 stuff came out i think. Might have to login and have a look someday.

I don't feel at all guilty about killing people. Whether it be a 2billion isk pimped fit Tengu or Loki, or whether it be a 2 day old player flying around low sec in a t1 missfit frigate :p
Low sec / null / wormhole = pvp consent

I'm thinking of giving Eve another try. I've had a few attempts before but never got past the legendary learning curve. I'm bored to tears with Wow atm, I'd love to get my teeth into something with more depth.

I've basically no idea what I'm doing, I'll attempt to play through the tutorials, and join the ocuk channel.

Does it make a huge amount of difference which race/faction I chose, or is it mainly cosmetic/roleplay ?

The race you pick slightly alters your starting skills but you can train anything you want.

You should however specialise in one race's ships at the start and aim to be proficient in them before cross training.

Caldari seem to be fairly noob friendly with some of the most widely used ships in the game i.e. Drake, Raven, Tengu.

I fly Gallente ships but everyone says that they are rubbish because of the weapons they use (hybrid turrets) but i think they are fine if used in the right situations.

So to sum up - Caldari are a good race for new players but avoid them unless you want to be realy boring and just like everybody else. :p

I would say play as minmatar if you want to bang your head against the wall, but actually they're not so bad anymore.

Also on the gallente thing, it's not that they're bad, in fact they're good, but you need to know the weapon's systems application.

Caldari are undisputedly the best race for pve, and by best i mean the most optimal race of ships to run a mission/complex/sites in the least time possible, making you more money/standings quicker. That's if you're grinding for money.

Ultimately running the money stuff in missions smoothly means you have more money for fun stuff like pvp. Of course money is made in a numerous ways.
