Atheists & agnositcs: How do you view religious people?

Hooray for bigotry and closed-mindedness. You must be a lovely person.

This is the fella who said he will kill anyone that hurts his family but yet he has an aversion for fish fingers when his mummy makes them for him.

Ignore the silly little keyboard warrior or better still just rip him for his utter stupid comments hes made in the past....a lot more fun and amusing.

I view atheists the same way i view religious people.

I don't mind religious debate i just don't want someone trying to convert me to either side, although the atheists who constantly try to claim that agnostics are actually atheists annoy me.

other than that every group has a majority of decent folk and the odd annoying ****er so judge each person individually rather than their religious beliefs.

In general this. They can believe what they want as long as they are not hurting anyone or trying to force their beliefs on anyone.

There are some organisations though which claim to be religious which exist purely to make money etc ... I do think that they should be exposed for what they are.

Cool, I'll just ignore him from now on then :)

I feel they are misguided individuals who are wasting their lives dedicating themselves to an imaginary friend. They see the world, not the way it is but an idealised version. They need to face the reality of life, being that it ends and there is mainly no point in it. They should really be locked up at loonies.

You have no idea what an Atheist is.
Atheists are in line with scientists so we believe in a Big Bang or imploding Universe or whatever this weeks idea is.
We don't however believe that God did it because that is too stupid.

Can you prove that God did not do it?

Can you define what God is?

Can you explain how the Universe can from nothing?

Can you prove that science will eventually answer theses questions?

Science's natural position is not atheism as that requires an assumption of certainty without any supporting evidence, science's natural position is agnosticism. Simply we do not know.

Here's how Thomas Huxley, Darwin's Bulldog defined his coining of the term agnosticism:

" This principle may be stated in various ways but they all amount to this: that it is wrong for a man to say that he is certain of the objective truth of any proposition unless he can produce evidence which logically justifies that certainty."

Hence atheists and theists are more alike in their respective beliefs than they would like to admit.

I think it's ridiculous they can believe in such things, it's really no different from thinking Pokemon are real.

except Pokemon are real!

I'm just glad I don't live in the US, they go on about religion a hell of a lot more and it just grates me.

Isn't that what the picture suggests?

No.

The opening line is:
The belief there was nothing and nothing happened to nothing.

Some atheists may believe that but I believe there was always something there.
The belief that the Universe came out of nothing is as ridiculous as somebody called God made it.

An Atheists belief is that a deity didn't do it.

Where did you get that? You quite clearly have a chip on your shoulder, which I expect will prevent you from seeing religion in anything but a negative light. That seems like closed-mindedness to me.

Yea but you dont understand my arugument, hence it is you that is closed minded.

And its not 100% about religion, those people are weak and stupid even if they were not religious. Likewise there are religious people who are not stupid or weak, but that is the minority.

Its a well known fact that he is more or less a sociopath on here, so just take everything he says with a fist full of salt and giggle to yourself quietly like the rest of us :D.

We are all atheist about some things, Christians are Brahma-atheists, Muslims are Thor-atheists, I am Santa Claus-atheist, which is why the "are you agnostic about fairies" rejoinder is just stupid.

Only this entire threads existence is due to particular set of theistic beliefs and being agnostic / atheistic to this is anymore important than being so to pink unicorns.

The whole point is there is literally as many things as you could possibly make up in your life time for you to be agnostic of so why pay any particular one any creed, why should not believing in God hold anymore relevance than not believing in the easter bunny?

If it turns out i was god, and engraved platinum87 on the moon, then done a few more things to prove it.

And i commanded you to shave your balls, would you do it?

Not sure that makes sense.

Because unless you've got a time machine, you can't dismiss the events in religious texts on anything other than faith?

I can't imagine taking a holy figure shaped like a bread crumb Fish finger seriously, so not likely.

Atheist, don't look down on anyone. They all made their own minds up just as I did and I think you have to respect that.

Atheists do not look down on people, are you serious!!!.

How many self proclaimed atheists have called theists idiots, madmen, or deluded in this very thread....

I no longer care about them, though I still get annoyed if pestered about my beliefs. I want to question them on my own terms, not on anybody elses.

I feel sorry for children being forced into a religion because I see it doing far more harm than good. I think the best thing to teach a child is to constantly readjust his/her values, be malleable and the way to do that is without a religion.
