HTC Desire HD (Ace)

How long are you getting out of a charge? Mine lasts a waking day very easily and over night it uses only 10% battery when off charge. This is with wifi on all the time.

Well according to this it was unplugged from full charge 3 hours and 47 minutes ago, and the battery level is on 80%, so it's anywhere between 71 to 80% capacity. I've been on the phone for perhaps 45 minutes all in all with various calls, and to my knowledge I've not turned anything off, so I presume it's all on.

I'm going to look into the link posted and see what I can switch off, but I need my email to push as I need it for work. I can turn FB etc off as long as it doesn't disrupt the birthday/calendar thing. Otherwise I guess I'm looking into custom ROMs and power mods?

WTF
I ordered on the Tuesday (26th) and called on the friday and said ETA was 2-3wks max.

Should I just cancel it or what?

Personally I wouldn't. I'm not anyway.

Firstly I'm not 100% sure that the cancellation goes through straight away, meaning that e2save etc. might not be able to process your order immediately if it's an upgrade.

Secondly it would be annoying if people started getting theirs through Vodafone and suddenly e2save had no stock.

Vodafone being a massive company means that they'll have bucket loads of business customers trying to get hold of DHDs also. A lot of people are posting 'why didn't Vodafone order more?' whereas I suspect the reality is that they ordered all they could but have been swamped with sheer demand.

mines on 73% of charge at the moment, switched it on at 7am this morning with a full charge

a morning refresh to get mail and facebook up to date over wifi, then I turn wifi off as I dont have it at work. then its hourly updates over data for facebook, mail and weather. I also turn gps off if I am not going to be using it

a bit facebook posting at lunch time and 5 mins on angry birds...a few texts and calls

will probably be on 40-48% when I finally stick on charge about 8pm tonight

more than enough to get a working day out of it

if a 1500mah battery comes on the market I may well upgrade but its not necessary for me at the moment

if I ever get round to using it for sat nav in the car it will be on a charger anyway so no worries for the future

Just want to add I finally had a use for using the navigation. Used Google's version attached to the maps and wow. GPS was locked the entire way, sync'd with compass great, zooms in when coming up to a roundabout and out again etc. Shows time left, has turn-by-turn voice. Even using the satellite overlay on T-Mobile was flawless. The full works, just spot on. This is why I bought this phone, end of :).

Garmin/TomTom must be quivering slightly.

Oh and can anyone recommend a good vent mount?

See that's what I need. Mind telling me your rough settings? Rooted?

temporary root with visionary.

i use ADW.Launcher instead of sense
sense news, stocks, weather, facebook and twitter are off, only 'HTC sense' is on in 'accounts and sync'
facebook (market version) sync (for contacts) is on.
google syncs are on, except gmail as i run my own imap.

market: facebook, twitter and k9mail are set to manual updates.

no live wallpapers, they are a large battery hog.

Finally caved after talking to a few places that had this sim free they were telling me they had back orders of over 80 phones!

So ive gone and got another contract. This time on t-mbole the web 300 package (i never use the phone for 300 mins) 18 months at £25 and £129.99 handset and hopefully £55 cashback through quidco.

Now i need to get my number switched and to cancel the virgin contract

I am due an upgrade in December.

Is this phone worth having ?

What are you coming from? What are you looking for from a phone? It's certainly the bees-knees but like everything it depends on what you want and need.

Went into T-Mobile with my girlfriend over the weekend as she's due an upgrade. Let "slip" (;)) that I had a DHD and as nobody in the shop had even seen one yet (and were shocked I had one with them) they all wanted a look and a play. It definitely has more wow than the iPhone4.
