Ordered a 1055T 95w was sent a 125w. Is it worth sending back?

how did you buy a 95w edition by itself anyway? You can only obtain the 95w edition with a system or motherboard bundle.

It was part of an order with mobo, RAM, C300 SSD, 2TB F4, Heat sink, Blu-Ray drive etc (Order number 3689715). The delivery note says it should be a 95w version and before I checked out my basket it said it was a 95w version. if they are not allowed to sell the 95W like that and they put in a 125w instead the whole lot is going back :(

Did not work out as planned. Was told today that all current stock of the 95w 1055T's are labelled wrong and in fact they are all 125w versions. Find that hard to believe but it could be possible. Anyway went for a 1090T black Edition as that is on special this week for £199 and with the refund for Saturday delivery and free delivery on the 1090T it only works out about £5 more then the 1055T 95w, so I guess not too bad. Should be easier to OC with the unlocked multiplier.

That's not bad mate, ye the 1090T will oc better :)

Also I don't see how OCUK can confused the 95W/125W 1055's, one is in a retail box and the other isn't.

Hmm did not think of that. The CPU I was sent is retail as it has a stock heat-sink and fan. The OPN is the 125w part and the Overclockers UK barcode (CP-273-AM) is for the 95w part. I wonder if anyone else got the wrong CPU and did not notice LOL.

Maybe OCUK are pulling a fast one and trying to flog their surplus of 125W 1055's under the guise of being 95W.

Would probably be just my luck. I bought mine as part of an overclocked bundle, so wasn't retail.
Is there any way to tell without having to physically look at the cpu?

Don't think so the only way to be certain is to look at the code, doubt they'd give you a 125W though.

Read an article saying AMD restricted the sale of the 95w editions to built units or cpu+mobo bundles as not to undermine the sale of 125w editions. It mentioned that if 125w edition sales slowed down below a point they would stop manufacturer and shift 95w only.
