Fábio Coentrão is going to be a superstar :)

Composure is lacking! Make sure his shooting att is very high in training. Need to get it up otherwise he's not going to be very prolific at anything.

Huh? He's a 22 y/o full back. 11 is more than acceptable. I don't need hime to be "prolific" at anything.

Play him in AML mate, Far better! His positioning, marking, concentration, strength, balance is'nt great (concentration and balance especially). He's much better further up field...his attacking abilities far outweigh his defensive abilities. He will be pretty much at max PA at the mo, all his stats wont go up to 18 just because he's 22 and got great stats. You need to tweak his stats now for his best position. Tech att's won't decrease much now, phy att will if he doesnt training with intensity so keep them on medium with strength slightly higher. Most important att's to get up now is mental i think.

Why i said get his composure up is you don't want him to be in your wingers training schedule where shooting isnt the highest setting, you don't want to chance him getting to 24 and his composure is still like 12/13 or something. That won't cut it at CL level. Remember composure for attacking players is probably one of the most important if not the most important attribute. Seperates the men from the boys in CL football for sure.

Also maybe get a run with ball often and run with ball down left trained up. Just my 2 cents tho!

All great advice, but I don't play wingers, or even wide midfielders :)

I realise he has great attacking stats, and his mental stats need a few points, but he fits my my attacking full-back role very well. He is a first-team regular, and given that regular matches will improve mental stats most quickly, I'm not worried.

Can it be that hard really? pretty standard what aspects of training you want from different positions.

I used Tug's training but only as a template, always changed the training for each individual anyway. Best way!

How is FM11 anyway? not going to be getting it this year as i will literally hibernate for the next 6 months....not good for me at all! :p

Same here. I've always done my own ones. It's tedious for sure. I don't like the one size fits all training schedules. For example some players might require more training in fitness than others whilst those who need little fitness training require more shooting practice. :)

Does training actually really play a part in this game? I mean I never change it from default, rarely if ever sign coaches (only do when one of the existing lot are retiring or poached).

Still had a fair amount of success in the game in various careers from Aberystwyth, Young Boys, Koln... up through to big clubs like Real etc

Its the same with tactics for me, just use the base 4-3-3 no changes, put in my best XI and go. The only thing I really get involved in is buying and selling players... I dont even bother with my reserves/U18s and cancel their leagues and if I can their player contracts to give me more salary for the firsts.

My Asst. does all my Press Conferences, friendlys etc - the only thing I do on gameday is the team talks as the confidence factor still simmers in the game, so the wrong words could see a 4-0 lead evapourate in minutes.

Outside of that its just hold down spacebar and let the game chug along :D

Anyone else play the game like this? I know id be better off with 97/98 or 01/02 but as im a realism freak' I need the new competition setups, financial world, players etc

im like you since i really cant be arsed with tweaking tactics to perfection or messing about with training. Only i dont get much success hehe, i might try a 433 instead of 442 though.

ffs tried both 442 and 433 with rangers yet still doing extremely poor in the premier league, this is why i havent enjoyed a FM game since 2005 as no matter what tactics/players or how i approach the game i always do poor no matter what.
