Metro 2033

I'm guessing everyone has depth of field, tesselation and MSAA turned off? Those three things seem to destroy performance on my 5870 and with them off, it's actually silky smooth. Tesselation isn't so bad, but kills performance when there many characters on screen.

Gotta say, the graphics are truely amazing, just silly amounts of detail and atmosphere; it's like Stalker but way more polished (purely from a graphical point of view of course).

replaying this through :) its a game thats very nice on the eye thats for sure!

just at the part where you first goto the surface :)

£6 is an absolute steal, like every game i tried it on full spec to start off with and thought "why is this working" it looks great until i tried to move lol

i think im playing on DX11 on high graphics and it works nicely

Great game, finished yesterday, and plan to have another play through. Generally I dont do that with games, but this one, I wantto play agian!

I like how the pace of the game is broken up, dark tunnels fighting monster then lit stations fighting humans, a bit of climbing/suspense, a cut scene and a huge standoff with monster and a big stationary gun, surface (looks amazing up here), a chase scene, tunnels, a stand off, climbing, a librarian!

Game is really really good. Best game Iv bought in a long time!

One thing tho, found the ameoba bit towards the end impossible to get through on Normal, had to tone it down to easy to make it. I simply didnt have the ammunition to get through alive!

I found best setup for a 5870 was All max settings Dx11, turn off physx and Depth of Feild and use AAA ratherthan MLAA, looks great and runs great!

Just downloaded and installed , But whats this ranger thing all about in the difficulty selection ??? There are down arrows next to the 2 ranger settings as well . anyone know what they are .

Anyone got an answer for this question? I just started it but don't know how the difficulty works. Thanks

I must be the only one here who hated the game, and didn`t think much of the visuals either:confused:

That's fair enough. It won't be for everyone. While I thought it was the most graphically accomplished game I have ever seen, I would however add that ideally (for my tastes) I'd might have preferred it if the technology would've been set in a slightly different environment.

Plus the effect of the misted visuals around the edge of the screen, although on one hand a nice touch, did also take something away at times for me, a tad irritating.

I will replay it when I get a dx11 card. :)

Having read the book, I followed this game through its development.

At the time it came out I only have a 3870x2, so I thought I wouldnt buy this game untill I get my dx11 card. Good thing I did wait.

There are some portions of this game that are graphically unsurpassed! The surface parts of the game are great, and some of the scenes where you face of against the mutants in the metro, are amazing!

Actually its not just the graphics that creat about this game. But also the varied gameplay. Especially the bit at the end where you climb the tower and the thing is falling down around you etc... great stuff!

Only finished yesterday, and will have another play through.

Best game Iv bought recently.

^^Indeed, one of the best games I've played this year. Graphically unsurpassed for me as well, very little if any poor textures anywhere in the game world, something that most other games will have to concede at least more than once on, and that's being generous.

Honestly? One of the most over-hyped games of the year for me. Bought it after reading five or six reviews and comments sections, and stopped playing about two hours in.

Looks nice, but that's about all I'd give it. There were sections I played for around three minutes before hitting yet another loading screen... The game was obviously made for consoles and chopped into console-restricted-memory sized chunks. The enemies are bland, the weapons feel lifeless, movement is clunky... Just a very average game really. Not a patch on something like STALKER.

But hey, that's just like, my opinion, man. :/

^I do agree that to start with and for the first hour or more, there are a lot of loading sequences, and yes, I prefer Stalker as well. Can't wait for the 'Complete' Pripyat mod. :)

The movement, I agree, is quite clunky. That's my only real gripe. Other than that, I'm really enjoying the game and the graphical treats make the more dull areas a bit easier to bear.
