Supplements the debate/discussion thread

What's a good supplement/food for joints? I've got a little bit of tendonitis in the elbows.

Basic ones are glucosamine sulphate and cod liver oil
If you want to take it further you can try cissus, animal flex from universal is also a very nice complex.

1,3-Dimethylamylamine is banned by WADA, but under a different name; Methylhexanamine.

Here's the WADA prohibited list

Here's a very little thread on it

As it says in the above thread, just don't use it for 4 - 6 days before a comp, or during obviously.

Glucosamine and chondroitin are good, but are more preventatives than 'cures'. I would suggest these for long-term wear and tear. and cissus is a sound recommendation in the shorter-term.

Just ordered 5kg of strawberry cream and 5kg of chocolate mint whey from myprotein. Also got some more fish oils too (kinda not been taking them recently, might help my knee recover a bit =/).

This whey better last me well into the new year :p.

From a mate whos a chemist.

A general class of decongensants but also has stimulant effects, found in party pills at raves to help clear the senses and give you a high.
They're all isomers of methylhexanamine, similar compositions but different structures

chemical ways of getting around drug restriction laws in countries for raves etc.
A bit more potent though. Used for angyna, where people think they are having heart attacks, because it causes blood vessels to dilate leading to the rush as the brain gets hypooxygenated.
Has other effects...
Poppers are the nitrited versions of these compounds.
So a bigger effect but somewhat short lived
In body builders the amylamines help blood flow so add the excerise to build muscles without depriving them of blood supply for sugar and oxygen. Guess it leads to a more vigorous work out.

I can take up to 100g a day (in 3 different shakes).

Haters gonna hate.

I'm taking a lot of whey at the moment, even more than you sometimes :p

Haters brains gonna explode: I ordered 25KG's last time :p though that's to last me the year. Tub a month. Could get away with 2 scoops at uni when most of my loan went on real food.

Ha ha, so it was originally a decongestant? Brilliant.
I also read that it can invoke something very similar to the 'fight or flight' instinct, does your mate know if this is true?

Seeing as it is out of your system in under a week, I may give this a shot.

I have heard a lot of great reviews about Gaspari Myofusion in relation to its taste and quality. It is also a protein blend meaning that some of the proteins take a while to get absorbed. It is expensive at £35 a tub, but I usually bulk order 4 tubs, but with this i might bulk order 8 and get it for less than £28 a tub.

I am currently using Dymatize. http://www.cheapuksupplements.com/shop/product.php/2/elite_whey/ac671814d279aab4aed37f4428b9921a

which i managed to get 4 tubs @ £24.99 and a free tub of maximuscle when they had a special offer on. Im now down to my last tub so wanted to try something different.

anyone offer any input? myofusion contains some essential fats, etc in it so its much more than a normal powder.

What are you after? A standard whey or a slow release whey blend?

OT: PAz if you're reading hopw are you finding the MP Bedtime Extreme?

I've actually heard the opposite that the claimed protein levels are a fair bit higher than the actual amount of protein in it.

with food intake being roughly 3 meals a day, its time consuming to try and fit in more, i do snack in between on nuts, peanut butter, etc. i reckon a slow release whey blend would be better, but not one of those 12 hour ones. 4-5 hours max.

i like the look of these 2:

and

http://www.cheapuksupplements.com/shop/product.php/834/90__protein

taste is a huge factor for me though. if i drink with water i throw it down so it doesnt matter then but with milk i usually sip on it, so i want something which tastes as good as it is for my body.

i usually go for a mixed bag of flavours too, myofusion has 5 different flavours and so does the other 2.

i like a bit of variety so i dont feel like a robot eating/drinking the same thing every day.

Phd Pharma Blend is very good and tastes fantastic generally especially with milk and comes in a variety of flavours.

Though I needed something cheaper so am currently using MP Bedtime Extreme which is around £23-25 a bag I think from memory. Tastes alright, nothing special. I chug mine down before bed so don't exactly savour the taste in my mouth, barely touches the sides!

I'd stick with the unbranded/bulk supplements route such as BSD/MP as unless you can really afford it the branded ones are basically the same stuff just repacked with different flavours.

Edit: I've never seen a 10-12 hour blend before.

Edit: I'm not sure what I've heard about the Nutrisport. Can't remember if the general opinion was that it was alright or tosh.
