COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

BAH! This POS game keeps crashing to desktop and console right when I'm having a good game in multiplayer! That's 5 times since the patch update and 3 times today in just over an hours playing

On the plus side I decided to play the single player for a bit and it's brilliant fun so far.

I keep loading up the game only to find the 'Resume Game' ooption is missing and that I have to select a mission from the start.

Any ideas?

How long did you wait?

I loaded the SP once, and also wondered where the Resume Game option had gone. After a few seconds it appeared. Normally it appeared straight away. I assumed it was a delay in getting my player data from the internet or something.

click on campaign, it will just show up New Game, press escape and then go back in and resume game shows up.

Has anyone had issues with the mouse feeling a bit....I don't know...sluggish I guess.

I realised something was wrong earlier when I couldn't be bothered to turn round to check my back because of how dodgy the aiming is. It almost feels a little laggy, if that makes sense.

Any ideas?

No issues in MW2 or other COD games.

Yup had the same last night. First time it has happened since I got it.

I think it's all part and parcel of the general lagging problems with the game. I find mouse movement is not very smooth at all, yet the framerate is fine - apart from the typical lagging you get with this game. Mouse movement is fine in other games.

I personally have no problem with the principle of subscription based gameplay. I played wow for 5 years and considering the time i played it was incredibly good value for money.

Publishers (notoriously Activision) are a business, their sole aim is to make as much profit as possible (Kotick or whatever his name is though seems to be incredibly arrogant and should probably shut up!). If they thought they could charge us £8 quid a month and make more money than currently they would in a heart beat. The problem they have in implementing this is that it is not the current standard FPS model. We as gamers are used to buying a FPS game for say 40 quid and being able to play it online as much as we feel with no extra charge.

I think it will be a very long progress to change the model, i think at best they can phase things in slowly (they have started with mappacks). If it becomes subscription based i think they would loose more buyers than they would ever make up on monthly subs. I doubt monetisation through microtransactions would go down well either. Imagine instead of using 'COD points' to buy a new gun scope or facepaint you use actual money. The synic in me things 'COD points' is purly a means to get the masses subconsciously used to the concept of paying for these items so that it will be slightly less of a hurdle when they introduce using real money for this.

yea, I will never pay a subscripotion fee fora computer game

For instance, Conan mmo I would have bought, if it wasnt subscription!

Bring on Guild Wars 2

I also never buy dlc.... especially noit single player stuff... if its online multiplayer, with endless replay value like BC2 Vietnam expansion, then yes, thats defo worth it, but dlc like for Fallout 3 etc... no thanks. (9 months later you can get the game of the year edition, with everything integrated for free!)

subscription fps's :)

sad day for gamers. think i will go back to q3 & UT99

I can just picture them trying to charge for the mp in the cod series considering its always been hack ridden. At best they will get laughed at and people will move onto something else.

As I'm sure most don't, when appropriate.

Activision wanting to use a subscription model for CoD is a little different though. They essentially have a game that many people want to put hundreds of hours into, and despite their BS about MP being 'free', they have already been handsomely rewarded for this by huge sales of the franchise.

Their idea is not how can we provide a service, it's how can we monetize those hours? People can see it a mile off, that along with the fact that there are comparable games that won't charge for MP is why people are against even the idea of a subscription based Call of Duty. The scepticism is justified imo and it's going to take a huge amount of work to make me see a subscription model as appropriate.

Absolutely loving this online on hardcore today! Had some pretty garbage games and then some stupidly good ones. Slowly learning the levels is really starting to make a difference to how often you do actually die in a game lol.

Where that falls down though is that Blizzard have to maintain enough servers for 12 million people. Why should we pay a monthly fee for Black Ops when it costs the publisher nothing to host the servers?

I Google'd and someone else mentioned that turning Windows 7 mouse acceleration off helps. It has helped somewhat, but the game is still a bit dodgy.
