That snow video gave no impression of hwo it'll be, for a start....he wasn't in a Volvo with slicks and a bigger turbo (Or will that just be me? :D)

Seriously though, unless its through straight capture, its hard to put over how "weather" driving will be, but I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun :) I'm not gonna over-expcet everything to be perfect, we know there will be some glitches, some flaws and some things that some people love and others hate, but thats the fun and diversity of games!

I for one, obviously hope the physics engine has more in common with, say Forza 3's take on driving physics compared to that of GT5: Prologue where your car was ALWAYS either planted, or skating.
 
I'll be getting this, but I won't be anywhere near as good as some of you, as im pretty dire at racing games haha.

I have the 911 Turbo S Ultimate edition, and it's superb, but it was very expensive!

If you read all the reviews, their wheels are really good, the only fly in the ointment is that customer service is slow with communication problems (German company), and they aren't as slick when ordering etc, but they offer 2 years warranty, and have been creating products for sim racers for years, they trade on their quality and reputation, and do release firmware updates adding even more features to their very nice configurable LCD on-wheel menu system (Can adjust just about everything, and store 7 presets).

I will say that I was quite sceptical, and it pained me to spend so much on a wheel (No 911 Carrera wheel then), but since it's not only made it a nicer experience, but my lap times have improved quite well, the ability to dial in the wheel to me was key, as where the clubsport pedals.

The standard pedals are OK (all have a clutch), not quite as good as the Logitech G range, but their Clubsport pedals (expensive) are sublime..

If I was in the market for a wheel, and didn't care about Xbox 360 compatibility, I'd probably get the 911 Carrera, for £150 for all that, it's well enough reviewed and has all the same configurability of their expensive wheels, it's just gear driven instead of belt, which is inline with all the other wheels out there..
 
Those Fanatecs do look nice, then I noticed the prices. Their cheapest wheel for example - £35 cheaper if you live in the US rather than the UK.

The 911 Clubsport wheel is even worse. £272 in the UK, £220 for the US, and US customers get the extra shifter set thrown in as well. Way to take the p**s out of your EU customers.

Would have expected this if they were actually based in the US, but not when they're in the EU.

Thanks for the input. I've just been looking at the Thrustmaster Ferrari 430 Scuderia wheel which also look good.

The reviews of that are quite poor, it hasn't got FFB, and is aimed at the style concious novice..

Go to 16mins in this review.

It does look nice though..

Considering that the latest Fanatec wheels haven't been released yet I don't think you're going to get a balanced opinion.

Fan boys are gonna fan, the haters are gonna hate.

I decided on a G27 because: It exists, is available to buy and will be here tomorrow (a week before the game arrives not a month after)
It has strong force feedback, quiet helical gears and has had top marks in all the reviews by people who've used all of the wheels
available on the market and as such are in a better position than most to compare the wheels and give a semi trustworthy opinion based
on experience. I've never read a review on the G27 which has said the 'it's rubbish buy that one instead' or 'this is wrong with it'

I've never used a wheel in a racing game so I doubt I'm going to miss anything which isn't on the G27

It may be argued that there are better wheels on the market but while that's being argued on the web I'll be playing GT5 :D
