Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

Went to Tesco in my lunch hour and they didn't have it in stock.!! Weird, they normally have most release day games in stock... Asked at the counter, well my mum actually as she works there and she said they have had hardly any PC games sent this week...

She did mention a racing game for PS3, she said some game called tt5, bless her doesn't know much about video games.. I think she meant GT5, its being well requested, and I think Tesco might have their first shipments..

Anyhow, had to resort to EA store for this one if I want to play this weekend, so I'll download it later this evening.. Give me something to mess about with until GT5 turns up.

From the pics and what I've heard and read its meant to be a really good game. Bit like Burnout takedown etc... but cops and speeding drivers. Awesome, I'll have bit of that, and I'll just use MLAA instead of ingame AA. Sorted.

Yeah just because a game is arcade doesn't mean you shouldn't use a wheel :) OutRun and OutRun 2 in the arcades both had wheels!

i was reffering to not needing precision to get around a corner. you could probaly do just as well waving a monkey around infront of kinect

Hmmm interesting idea. Wave a monkey, in front of kinect. Lets hope someone doesn't spank... err no wait best not..!!:p

Steering wheel for any type of racing game should be able to work.. Regardless of if its arcade or not.

How is the game online guys?

Two aspects of online, there is the bragging where your scores automatically show up on other friends games, that is awesome - hence my constant plea for more friends to add . Particularly as Phat is owning all of my scores :( Then there is the true head to head online - not tried that one yet, tbh they really have nailed the social bragging play

Need friends... plz ad TheGreatGoatsby

Added and placed on OP. I think I have sorted my crashing issue - seems to have been me being a tad enthusiastic on the overclocking of my card :) Still need to see but played for an hour last night, I did see more slow downs but at an acceptable level imho.

I got this today and played it for an hour, I was concerned at all the reports of crashing on quad cores but so far it has behaved itself. The game runs smoothly at the cap of 60fps most of the time but sometimes it does noticeably slow down a little bit for a brief moment.

Initial gameplay impressions, it is a very simplistic game, there is some fun to be had but I'm not sure how much longevity it will have especially the single player mode. The handling of the cars even given that it is a pure arcade game, is still lacking - getting a car to change lanes to avoid another car can be difficult even on a straight, and I'm not aware that driving fast on a straight road makes it hard to steer left or right but in this game it is.

The graphics are fine but VERY BADLY need anti-aliasing. I haven't bothered to try forcing it for my nvidia card as we've already heard it doesn't work.

A decent enough game in its own right although I thought this before from videos, and I still think it from playing: this is NOT a Need For Speed game in any way except the name. It is Burnout. Well, it is Burnout stripped of all the game modes except for races, time trials and takedowns.

The longevity comes from getting some friends and fighting over top times (also the hot pursuit mode online is a blast). The SP campaign is really just a means of kick starting some healthy competition, which is what the game is intended for.

But what is "Need For Speed" thesedays? The series has gone through so many iterations that I don't think anyone is qualified to say what is or isn't a NFS game. Hot pursuit for me is more true to the series than Shift was.

If you have a gametag, if you share it we can have some fun on the SP element of sharing best times etc. So far for me this is proving to be the addictive element.

No i'm fairly sure it's only automatic. ON the note re Burnout Paradise - personally I prefer this iteration - maybe it's the way they have handled the autolog but it just works very well and the racing sid is fast and furious. Need for Speed wise I prefer it to most wanted, shift is a differet kettle of fish - personally I preferred Grid to that but different games tbh
