Winter 2010/2011

we have today filled our personal salt and grit bins today, our drive is a 1 in 4, and last year the van never went out for 4 weeks, we had to drive a landcruiser everywhere. and we're a thous feet above sea level and get it real bad up here.
hey ho, stores are in, logs are cut, many books to read, all about preparation aint it.

Can't wait for this snap to hit.

Been following it since it looked like a real possibility early last week and now it looks nailed on.

Unfortunately although a lot says Manchester will see at least some snow, it takes something special for it to happen - wet unsettling snow at best here :(

Hate to tell you this , but the way the forecasting is in this country it's NEVER nailed on. We are well behind the states in forecasting even a day ahead

Good for me as i am going warehouse project on friday!

Montana, USA. Was outside yesterday watching American Football, -10c with a -21c windchill and snow; never felt anything like that.

the charts above are from GFS which is the American global forecasting system. Why do you say the above?

We'll see :)

It's going to get colder, that's what everything points to and what weather I like. Sure the exact weather is going to vary between now and the end of next week.... but the overall trend is for far colder weather.

I remember when this was first posted and everyone laughed lol

I do reckon it will be cold this winter, but the way that guys writes it you would think the world is about to end. He needs to remove the new ice bit and maybe more people will read it.

It will be like the winters we used to have. For example my own father remembers when he had feet of snow to get through and it being a lot colder than it is now.

We are not taking about the last few years. I am talking about 30/40 years ago when winters, were winters.

I see this forecast as nothing some of the older folks haven't seen before, but for us younger ones it will new.

Its hardly the end of the world, but of course as we all know the UK will stop functioning because of it.

We will have a week or two of snow. Everyone will go bonkers again. People in Europe will shake heads again. We'll rush out and buy even more 4x4 vehicles to cope with the 2 weeks a year where you might be late for your office job.

People with rear wheel drive BMW's will have to stay at home as they can't get off their drive :D

Bah, thurday and friday snow expected around here, what a joy it will be driving around a 2 tonne van down a narrow snowy unsalted country road with canals by the side. Wonder how many vans will be written off by people this year, every winter a couple are :p.

Though whatever the weather, even with 3 feet ( yeah right! hypothetical situation though) of snow, we'd still have to work :(.
