***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Right after carefull consideration (+ reading this thread too much) I have decided that I need this game :) Problem is funds but I am hoping that between my birthday (4th Dec) and Xmas I can get enough funds to get the game, wheel & stand.

At the moment I have the game covered from the wife (just need to let her know before she buys me AC:B) and I'm confident I can get the wheel (DFGT). So my question is what's the cheapest decent stand avalaible? I have my eye on one for £70 but any recommendations without building my own?

I have had a quick go after the long install... Its ok. I dont really want to say too much as its not out but if you like GT you will love this. I think it falls victim to the hype machine, some parts feel very unfinished, the screen tearing is quite noticeable but i cant see it really putting people off too much its by no means a game spoiler. Some of the shadows are a bit random and the damage is well not really that great unless i have missed an option there.....
The big question i suppose is it better than forza 3 i would say yes in some ways, but no in others. Forza seems more finished than GT.

Anyway i have only played a very small amount of the game and i,m going to have a better blast tonight when there are no kids hanging off the wheel... Oh thats one last thing in my opinion the game is miles better with a wheel i struggled with the crappy ps3 pad but with a wheel its miles better.....

LOLz at the kids hanging off the wheel, my 4 year old insists on climbing up and sitting on my lap and trying to 'help' me steer, which is comical, because if I did drive as I normally do, I'd probably rip his thumbs off with the quick lock to lock steering you often need to do!..

I like your initial impression, I think that's what I'm expecting my initial reaction to be, but I think the more I play it, the more it will shine and it's going to be epic all-told, so no worries there!

Join the club, I keep mashing F5 on the tracking details hoping Home pick up the delivery today :D

I went for the first class option.

I even called them up. They said it would be dispatched today.

Basically the two most respected stands are the Wheelstand Pro, and the Fanatec Rennsport stand.. both are around £100, but you pay for the quality, easily foldable, obviously perfectly designed for the job, and I've tried the Fanatec Rennsport and it's sturdy as hell..

Here's a video comparing the two (It's also GT5p Vs FM2, but I can't help that, so I'm not embedding it..), Go to 17mins and 25 mins for the two stands (The new rennsport stand has more adjustability)

Definitely is more finished than GT5 - doubt anyone could disagree

I guess we will find out in years to come why GT5 was released and why it took so long to make considering the state its in - I very much doubt anyone in PD would say theyve produced the finished article...

I will rue this, but thank god for DLC which will probably patch it up...

ps3ud0

Apparently there are no brake upgrade options in the game which doesn't makes sense to me as upgrading your brakes in an integral part of the tuning process, you can't ramp up your HP of your vehicle and then not have have performance brakes to match, I'm hoping they scale up or something at very least.

Cheers Demon, I was looking at the Wheelstand Pro, but found one on Play for £70 (not sure on the make) and although I would prefer that it folds I can live without it.

Get your self a logitech wheel and attach it to a desk.... Job Done!

Don't think the wife would be too impressed with me moving the desk downstairs into the lounge :)

Didn't have a postal option with Play, but the again I am getting the 320GB + GT5 Collector's Edition bundle from them.

Looks like my mashing has just paid off

I find that hard to believe - there were upgrades in all the previous GT games.

Any source?

There's videos/pictures from people who have the game, the tuning shop doesn't have brakes in there.

But I suspect we'll get a patch before or shortly after it's released to fix the issues.

That'll be good.... Tune the car and hit 180+ mph and can't slow down.. Maybe PD are proud of the damage model and want us to really see it in full swing by making it impossible to slow down in time for corners?

All GT games have had upgradable brakes, you can't up the HP and not do something with the brakes... You'd spend more time in the gravel trap or hitting the wall, then racing if this was true...

Any source?

Just some guy that has the game on another forum,
