***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

sorted the music bit - its in the options but you need to scroll left right for other options (lol - but the game dosent seem to make it appear that there are other options on each bit).

Is anyone else finding the game has a serious lack of AA on the cars etc way to many jaggies (even the text etc looks jaggie edged compared to other games and even the ps3's dash/xmb)

Im sure turn10 are laughing there heads off now lol.

I bet they won't when we finally see some sales figures. Love it or hate it (and I'm enjoying it, niggles aside), it's literally the only game that anyone on my friends list (which ok, isn't massive) has been playing today. I've never seen that with any other game.

barmyllama poser is having a bad time of it, I'm experiencing none of the issues barmyllama poster is.

Quick loading, no tearing AT ALL, the G27 flappy paddle combo is schweet as.

Just almost golded the ring in a 1954 Merc SL - would have nailed it if it wasn't for some pesky homosexualist in a red 320 SL

Online games are a hoot !

Won a load of championships, £150k+ in my bin, the game is only just opening up, I'm remembering bends, curves, combinations and tracks from years ago and I'm loving it

Cheers for the quick review.

I think I'll buy it. I'd get my @ss beat online though as im pretty crappy with racing games, even though I really always liked gran turismo. Buying cars modifying them mechanically etc driving sim is best.

Why am I a poser? G27 by any chance?

G27 was bought from OcUk with the game included for £220, take off £35 for the GT5 that I would have pre ordered and makes my G27 £185, knock off £165 for the insane second hand price I got for my G25 and a brand new G27 cst me £20.

And as far as the G27 being sweet with GT5, try selecting reverse gear with the down shift paddle.

Doubt it....My friends list is over half playing GT5. No wonder the servers are playing up. Getting a right hammering.

Over the next months I can see a lot of updates being applied. And as said, love it or hate it, this game simply has the most stunning replays i've ever seen....

For all its flaws, iffy shadows, screen tearing and stupid crash sounds... Underneath this is one heck of a racing game.

Actually just checked the reviews

http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/gran-turismo-5/critic-reviews?dist=positive

Its not doing as bad as I thought..... A lot of high scores in here, even with all the faults. I tell ya, the word GT to PD and sony is way to print money..!!

Ok. My opinions of the game.

I did the 8GB optional install, took around 50minutes I'd say. Loading did seem quicker.

I keep getting the daft network error message, but it somehow sorts itself out afterwards. It is annoying since it takes aaaaaaaaaaaaages to load.

First car I bought was a EK9 Civic straight from the Honda dealer. I did the licences to begin with, I didn't do well, since I'm playing with a pad. Got a couple of gold/silvers and rest bronze.

Tuned my civic up to 237bhp and went to do the sunday cup. Now I have to say, I absoloutley LOVED screwing the heck out of the EK9, the physics for me are spot on. However it over-steers like crazy.

The standard cars look crap, very crap. I'm not fussed about interior view since I use bumper cam. I might use it when I buy a wheel. I'm not overly impressed with the graphics either.

5 years and it's a half finished game. However, as I progress I know I'll enjoy it more. It's a good pass time, and it could have been something amazing.

Just managed to complete the Top Gear Elise 111r race but took me nearly half an hour :)

In the past I’ve had both an S1 and S2 Elise’s which I used for trackdays. If the real cars handled like that I wouldn’t be here to make this post. The S1 would suffer lift off oversteer but the S2 was much more stable in those situations.

What the hell is with the Ring challenges where they put pedestrian cars in?! Honestly! Can't get a clean lap thanks to silly cars in the way.

Cool nice you're enjoying the game, but there IS SCREEN TEARING in this game...

In your game, on your system ? Or on everyone's system everywhere that you know of, everywhere all the time ? Try to be more specific.

I don't know about you

No, you don't. But I can tell you that I haven't seen any 'tearing' in game, in London with 12 cars on the track and you can take that whichever way you like.

I'm not calling you a liar or saying you don't know what it is..

O'Reilly ? Maybe I am just a simpleton who's enjoying the game too much :D Perhaps if I got my post count up I may be taken seriously ?

Sorry for your troubles, GT5 is all good here ;)

It's not that they're not good, it's that out crappy Internet speeds give us a crap experience. Note that the average speed of Japan's internet is something along the lines of 50MB/s up and down.

Im not on about speeds etc, Im on about the ease of inviting people to a room, being able to do a party etc would be good.

Sony need to look more at XBL

****sakes u have to do another install to play/join a lounge? what a ****ing joke. this game feels incomplete.

i reckon the online portion should have been beta tested. the thing that ****es me off the most is besides the **** AI, **** menu's and **** loading times and broken online mode, the actual race gameplay, physics, handling and graphics are amazing.

Also, the game is continuesly sending and receiving data via http or socket connection on the same Thread. i can actually visualize how they coded it and a recent graduate seems to have coded that part of the game!!!

EA's fifa 11 does the exact same thing as GT5 i.e does background sending and receiving data continuesly through the menu's and when playing a game btu because its done on a background thread, it never interferes with the main thread(the ui, the actual game etc..)
