*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar! Do I have to do anything to put the T-Mobile ROM on the SD, or is it already there? And do I need some other program to create a backup of the ROM?

Backup and restore are done via recovery or using the app Rom Manager (which busts its fists into recovery then smashes out a backup on to you SD card in a flurry of furious bursts.

You need to root via unrevoked first, of course :p

getting the constant sync symbol with this LeeDroid ROM. Has to be said, I'm now on the A2SD ROM and it's still not making me horny

Constant sync symbol? go in to acconts and sync and see what is attekmpting to sync!

I'm going back to DeFrost or Oxygen once Gingerbread is out as I doubt we will see a Sense version for ages.

Thats just it, nothing is syncing. But, if I go to the sync options, I can cancel sync and the symbol goes. Also, i've removed the stocks, news, weather widgets. Why do they still appear in accounts :(

Ah it's best not to remove those as those that start HTC* as those are core services required by the htc framework.

Maybe this is why :p

Rooted! Nandroid backup performed, and backed up the back up to my computer.

I had a look at LeeDroid and noticed the A2SD+ add-on needs an EXT3 partition, I think that's a bit technical for me right now, so should I go for the LeeDroid without the A2SD+ add-on?

edit: oops! I was looking at the old version of LeeDroid (1.9)

A new problem has arisen on my Desire.

I am using Oxygen ROM and the battery is disappearing really fast!
When I check what it is its my display which is around 55% of battery usage

I have no idea what is causing this, my background is a picture of Batman :o

Any thing or any apps I can use to discover what the problem is?

The display isn't actually pwning battery, it's just a reporting bug (according to Richard Trip of DeFrost, anyway).

Must be something else!

leedroid still really needs the a2sd+ cache, i find it chuggs and crashes a lot more without it.
you can do it in rommanager, just backup the sd card on to your pc, then create the partition in rommanager (i did 500mb) then install the rom and more your sdcard stuff across again.

it is pretty simple/

AmonRA recovery is at v2.0.0 (since Nov), better compatibility and support for SLCD too as well as a CM themed version :)

I tried it first on a spare 2GB SD card and it really was simple using rommanager. I'm now running LeeDroid 2.2f with A2SD+ and the circle battery mod. I did like sense, so LeeDroid is perfect so far, my phone seems a lot faster and I have more internal memory, I wish I'd rooted sooner now! Thanks to you and Khaaan! for the help :)

Rooting isn't the process it used to be :p When I rooted my Desire and partitioned (on like the 2nd day of ownership, LIKE A BOSS!) Stuff had to be done via ADB in command line but now you just click a button and BAM! it's done.

Still all good though :)

Tempted to give Leedroid another whirl for some of the HTC stuff so that means a complete wipe. If I use Titanium to back up my apps, is it better that they are on the sd card or the phone itself? I swear the last time I tried I had to re-download everything and I it's a PITA :(

Titanium only stores backups on the SD card :p

Before flashing just do a full wipe and factory reset from recovery and then flash the new ROM, reboot fully then flash any addons and then start restoring user apps+data one by one using Titanium. Running a batch restore can cause problems sometimes.

Sorry, I mean the apps themselves. I take it it doesn't matter if they are on the SD card or the phone memory?

Also, I assume the partitions won't be touched doing a full wipe?

If you've got an EXT partition and flashed a ROM with A2SD+ enabled then don't touch anything to do with the place apps are stored, the ROM will automatically store them in the EXT partition on the SD card.

Some apps, however, will always install to the SD card via FroYo A2SD and you can go to manage apps and move them from FroYo A2SD (they will show in the On SD Card tab) to internal phone memory which will put them into the EXT partition on the SD card where it should ideally be.

You don't have to, though, because technically it's still on the SD but I like uniformity for this kind of thing :p

A full wipe (if you're using the latest AmonRA recovery) will wipe the EXT partition but not the FAT32 partition. This is what you ant as you don't want the EXT left as is during a new ROM install.
