The Ashes 2010-11: Australia v England ** spoilers **

Who is this man, and what has he done with Peter Siddle?

Come on Hussey, get in there my son! :D (Fingers crossed for Haddin's century...)

And how's that working out for you?

:)

As I found out in my 18 months in your country(best country in the world :o) your good at watching sports until you get beaten then suddenly you stop watching or play the were the best per sqr km of any country at sports ;) come back to me when you have something :p

Anderson starting to look disillusioned, hopefully the attack will return after lunch. England not done much wrong just need to stick with it.

I've come back to you with a 100+ lead for Australia in our first innings. Will that do?

:)

I honestly thought this would be a good day for England's bowlers. The Australian batting order is shamefully brittle right now.

*edit*

...and that's Haddin's century. Nice work.

Does anyone know where the England team are staying? I'd like to send Anderson a box of chocolates and some flowers.

:p

Surviving the LBW review, even when it was clearly pad-pad and not bat-pad (The reviews even show this! someone dropped a ball here) was the turning point for me.

Get out!

I said to my bro before the series started that Hussey and Haddin (+ North) will probably be the ones that struggle the most. How wrong was that.

Swann really needs to up his game. He was hyped up to be bowler of the series.

Mate I was right with you on that one Hussey has done nothing for 18 months then boom

could this game be a re run of cardif with the aus not being able to bowl england out?

That's what worries me. On a lighter note, from the BBC 606 discussion boards ~21 hours ago:

i think england have to keep the lead below 100. englands batsman simply aren't good enough to overcome that 9.5 times out of 10. thankfully it's hussey and haddin at the crease as opposed to steve waugh and adam gilchrist so it's still game on for now

:D

There was no review. England had none left. Those were just the torture of replays. The "look what you could have won".

An interesting day. Steven Finn was the only English bowler who made it back to the safety of the pavilion with his genitals intact.

What a great score to get up to (tears)

I thought Anderson bowled the best spell of bowling i've ever seen which didn't manage to get a wicket first up. Credit to Haddin and Hussey for surviving it, they had a bit of luck but they batted very sensibly through that period. He deserved a lot better figures than he ended up though!

Even though it looks like we'll loose this test, and possibly by a big margin, I'm not too disheartened. If you take Hussey and Haddin's score out of the scorecard it makes interesting reading, same goes if Siddle hadn't taken his hat trick. I still think England's bowling lineup is better, but Swann and our fragile batting (isn't it always fragile?) is a problem.

Evangelion - you going to the Adelaide test?

Strange test so far , still don't thinknwe have done a huge amount wrong tbh. Mitchell Johnson still bowling well for the Aussies which is always good to see.:p

Typical that all the wickets got taken minutes after I go to bed!

Another late one tonight by the looks of it

Nope; can't get the time off work. Even if I could, it wouldn't be fair to leave my wife at home with our two kids (newborn baby & toddler)!

Ah never mind, i'm sure you're keeping yourself busy!

So, if England make it to tea only 1-2 wickets down, can they save the test? Think i'll be up late!

I'd like to see England get a lead of 100-150 to at least make it interesting. Still not convinced by the Aussies so let's see how they fare on a 5th day pitch.

I agree, England's bowling was excellent today, which makes Hussey and Haddin's achievement all the more impressive. Yes they enjoyed plenty of luck, but it was surely their discipline that kept the partnership alive. Hussey, in particular, chose his shots very well.

To keep the game alive Australia needs England all out before stumps tomorrow. If they're only 1-2 wickets down at tea, I reckon we'll be looking at a draw. The pitch is cracking, which could be good news for our bowlers.
