Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

The GPS on my galaxy S is fine. I even pick up a signal sat in my house and my work office (didn't before with 2.1), picks a signal up within about 5 seconds normally, if not driving. Paired with Copilot it's a pretty good sat nav. certainly no worse than my tomtom one which i only ever use on long journeys due to the battery usage by the SGS.

In car charger!!

Well the standard 0.5 amp chargers aren't powerful enough to charge the phone while the gps is being used. I've not actually got round to getting one for the sgs yet. But my old n900 would get really hot when charging and using the gps, the 0.5 amp charger was also not powerful enough to charge the battery and it would still drain in just over an hour from being fully charged. I suspect the sgs would cope better. But i don't really need it too so haven't tested it yet.

Best 1A charger I've found is the oem HTC ones. Works fine, enough juice to charge the phone and run the gps, bluetooth, 3G at the same time.

ran GPStest. showed from 0 to 9 In View, 0 In Use.
switched to Navigation, map showed my route, selected Follow Route, all the while at the bottom of the screen..... Searching for GPS just sat there looking at me.

will try a few times throughout the day while mobile at work to see any changes.

mine is not hacked in anyway, is yours?
Yes mine's hacked, doesn't make any difference still locks on no problem with a stock build, even indoors.

what app is that to test gps?
GPS test, GPS status is another. Allows you to clear the GPS data and reset.

Personally I'd say that's just faulty, tried clearing the GPS data?

Has anyone else noticed that after rotting the samsing galaxy S it not longer charges from USB?
No never, quite an odd one that.

YOu don't really need Apps2SD on a phone that has so much internal storage though :p

Just root, and use Nandroid, this will backup and restore everything. Job done!

You might as well be talking Chinese unless you link me (or perhaps we can't?)

Root is Admin control over the phone so you can modify the operating system etc

EXT is a file system and the number is the version. EXT4 is newer and considered better.

Head on over to the xda forums to have a read through.
I'll link you in a bit with a good starting point.

checked on-line and there was help in altering some settings in LBS Test Mode, the only one on mine that was different was in Operation Mode and that was set to Standalone, i changed it to MS Based (no clue as to what each does) and while i was out and about i tried 2 destinations and it worked more or less spot on, i say more or less as one of the destinations it said on arrival was on the right was across the road on the left.
