Confirming this, sorry guys :(. There are also 2 versions of the galaxy S if you're on Orange. I'll be blunt and say one is just stock Galaxy S android 2.1 + 2 orange apps (films, account, removable) , the other is a re-branded heap of crap in which we did some really stupid stuff like remove gtalk again. We changed over around october.

I did the kies reghack fix to get JPO on mine anyway.
 
anyone help with mp3 ringtone problem i started getting after the 2.2 update.

i put a bunch of mp3 ringtones i created on my galaxy s.
went to contacts, selected a contact then went to Edit.

clicked on ringtone and selected Phone Ringtone from list of Default, Sound and Phone ringtone.

my ringtones were available and i selected one. clicked ok then save.
when i look at the contact details the ringtone i selected is not there, its back at default ringtone. and if a contact rings me its the default ringtone that plays, not the one i've selected.

Is there anyway I can have the default Messaging icon on the bar thingy at the bottom open Handcent instead of the normal andriod messaging app?
 
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I managed to take a screenshot on my Galaxy S today by accident.

Go to the screen you want to capture, hold down the back button (bottom right) and tap the centre button twice. The camera sound should fire and an image captured. Hopefully someone will find this useful.

I am on Froyo JPM.

Wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing the builds from samsung. For example froyo builds were out in august.

I'm on JP7 from this list.

Whats the crack with this 3 button recovery thing?

I have just tried it on my galaxy s and it didn't work, just flickered till i let go, then the phone turned on.

Then tried it on my girlfriends phone and it worked fine, both recovery and download thingy's.

Is it essential i have these 3 button things work? Im not fussed as long as my phone works and can update properly. Had the phone about 3 weeks now.

You need download mode to be able to use odin. Odin basically does a clean flash of the phone from within this mode and allows for pretty much any problem which can arise to be solved.

If you're going to do something which invalidates the warranty, its a very good idea to ensure this is working.

Anyone have any ideas on if/when Orange will be getting 2.2?

Infact what's the differences between 2.2 and 2.1, does it change the OS much?
 
After install, rebooted a few times and consistantly getting "The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
And Force Close

If I try and go into messaging after this, it hangs on a black screen and eventually flashes up a quick error and dumps me at the home screen.
