OCZ Vertex 2 90GB 3.5" speed check

i've just thought could it because im using it on a amd system? i've seen afew other people with amd systems get similar CDM results.

A possibility I suppose. Though as your ATTO benchmark doesn't look too bad, I'm not sure that I would worry about it overly. As I suggested, give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes.

well i need to reinstall windows because i'm having issues with games/software, do i need to secure erase the drive before reinstalling windows or can i just install it?

Yes. But you will need to SE your SSD as a secondary drive if using the OCZ Toolbox.

Here is the Toolbox guide if you've not seen it before.

good luck.
i've boot into windows from another drive but i'm getting this:

Restart your PC and see if that clears it.

There is a comment in the link I pointed you to.

"This function is still dependent on the system you are using it on. Some chipsets/bios will have the drive in a frozen state. Normally a reboot will clear this state, but this is not always true."

If it doesn't sort it, then you may need to do it the "long way".
IE. use HDDErase

See http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?79848-THE-BASIC-GUIDE-amp-FAQ-ABC-for-OCZ-SSD for details.

Must admit that I've only used the Toolbox myself.

I've tried rebooting many times but still the same..

I would suggest maybe posting on the OCZ Sandforce forum (or having a read there first). Otherwise I suspect you will need to try HDDErase. Never done it this way before, so I'm not going to be a lot of help. Sorry. Maybe someone else has encountered this and might be able to offer advice. But to be honest, I think the OCZ forum is your best bet.

Here's one post with a few things you could try. I'm sure there are others.

To be totally honest, I would say that it is well worth while registering on their forum. It's not just a user forum, some of the mods actually work for OCZ. So they are probably the best people to ask. They've been VERY helpful with me when I approached them about a problem with SATA drivers recently.

Good luck.

Ive ran hd tune and crystaldisk, and as you can see crystaldisk is much lower then hd tune. This is because of 2 things. The ssd cant compress the data with cristaldisk cos its already compressed, but with hd tune its not compressed, so the ssd can compress the data giving a much better read speed. Also it depends on the hdd controller too.

ok, so i'll just boot from windows disk and install it.

Yes

I've just had a look at my previous benchmark of crystaldisk of when I got the ssd and the write speed is quite a lot higher, so I will log off when im not using windows for a few weeks then hopefully that will get it back up. Im guessing the ssd hasnt been doing its trimming thing, but on the OCZ forum its recommended to log off windows for a few hrs a week so the ssd can do its thing without interruptions

When I first got the ssd

What you are seeing is a fair indication of what writing a lot of in-compressible data to a SandForce controlled SSD does! Notice that it's the write speeds that are hit, the read speeds are about the same.

Indeed ... DragonQ does tell the truth.

Warning!!!! Only have your SSD connected when installing Windows, as it's not unknown otherwise for the MBR for you boot disk to end on another drive! Crazy I know. And that can cause havoc.
