***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Don't get me started on that one, I tried it about a billion times and got a 1:17.038, so near yet so far, I'm fairly sure the last corner is where I can make up the last half a tenth or so to get gold, going in quicker for the first bit then on the brakes and out wide to get the second apex, but with the bump in the braking zone it's not great, especially with this car as I 'need' to run with no ABS/TC in order to get it cornering nicely around the hairpins (read semi-controlled drifting :p)

I've given up for the time being though, once the memory has dulled a bit I might go back and aim for gold again :p

The last corner is difficult you can see the finish line and you just want to nail it but then you think ffs why did I just slam the throttle car goes everywhere makes you  and so begins the just one more try routine.

Hahaha, aw man, I love that. It's almost as good as the "I can tell it's a photoshop from the pixels and the number of 'shops I've seen in my time" :D.

I'm absolutely not saying your wrong, frankly I couldn't care less, but it's never a good idea to justify your insulting rant by saying how qualified you are to make that rant. Kinda makes you out to be a ****.

My 'insulting' rant? Insulting to whom? Are you retarded? And yes, I am qualified and yes the cars sound like poor synth sounds. You can cry all you want about it and you can call me whatever you want but it is not going to change the simple fact that cars sound like an elephant stomping on its own crap.
Go and play that POS some more now and don't forget the fanboi hat.

Bought myself a nice M3 and its super fun but still feels slow as old boots and even an RX7 nearly kept up with me.. I should add ive tuned it too!!

So to enjoy this game in any capacity you have to be a "fanboi"

Just lol worthy tbh.

I bought a 2nd hand Logitech Driving Force EX yesterday, connected it and went to the Nascar Special events and golded them in a few tries, so much easier.

But is it normal that controlling cars and especially braking is more difficult?
I found that under braking my Gallardo would slide much more compared to the pad, also I am about a second slower with the wheel compared to the pad, is it normal that I struggle or am I missing some setup settings?

Also on this page: http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/gran-turismo-5/81077-race-series-what-car-use.html
It advises a GTR '07 in a lot of races but wouldn't it be better to get a GTR V-Spec '09 instead or will that car be excluded from races?

You should get used to the wheel after a while and the braking thing i usually alter the bias for cars like the ferrari's and lambo's seems to help when heavy braking from high speed .

Also how hard is the Top Gear Elise race!? I keep losing control and flying off the track

The secret is to some extent, don't follow the AI cars religiously, they are using either some entirely different physics engine, very differently setup versions of the car, so you are best to ignore their braking points etc,

The speed for me came from breaking earlier then you'd think and going for a fast in, fast out approach, the AI always goes in fast, out slow for most corners, so you shoot by them..

I'm going to re-visit it and do it with no assists, I gave in and used Traction/ABS on my first go at it, but now I've driven the track and got used to the physics of the game a bit more, I think it's within my reach..

Has anyone done all golds in the license tests with a pad? I'm just taking my bronzes up to silver level at the moment and some of the tests I can't see where I'd be able to make the leap from silver to gold, I was terrible at the cone slalom for example and only just scraped a silver. :(

ooooh yea, more fanboys to the rescue.
Things are pretty simple chumps, I am feeding this to a pair of KRK Rokit 6 through a Xonar D2X via the optical output from the PS3. I have been doing studio work for years so I am fairly experienced with audio. The car sounds are just crap and it is as simple as that.
I am not insulting individual people here, I am only ranting because I find aspects of this game horribly underwhelming. The only thing I am enjoying so far is how cars drive. Everything else is rubbish in my book.
You wanna keep praising the game, then be my guest. Come GT6 you will be served the same old crap all over again and you will love it too.

I don't understand where you are going with this, yes the sound isn't spectacular, I get your point, why are you going on and on and on about it?

My god the collision detection is so inconsistent. Example: accidentally ploughed into a VW van on the Top Gear track at Hammerhead- no problem. Brushed someone else at Bacharach- disqualified :-/

Equally, I notice the AI are allowed to do whatever they want- on the straight before Bacharach I've got a decent gap to the van behind, but somehow it still manages to get a slipstream/catch up/whatever and proceeds to bumper car my van.

I think it depends where on the track you are, possibly it understands that you are more likely to shunt on hammerhead as its a heavy breaking zone and therefore is a little more forgiving? I had noticed this as well.

In actual fact very few people (Well myself included), aren't doubting what you are saying.. I think you are under some delusion that we all love every aspect of the game..

It's the manner in which you are phrasing it, your statement above is laughably ironic and a masterpiece in ignorance.

But, sound wise, I'm with you, I only needed a relatively crap 5.1 Sony setup in my small study to notice it:p and I have other games I can compare it directly to, but I've voiced this where it matters, over on GTPlanet, PD actually read some of the stuff over there, I don't believe Kaz gives two figs how much we rant on here..

Chill the 'f' out man.. or don't.. if you want to get bent out of shape thinking the entire world loves every aspect of GT5 and are in some stupified state of blindness, then knock yourself out..

Why can't you sell some cars you have bought? Ferrari Enzo for instance, 1 million to buy yet you can't recoup anything when you don't like it, just seems stupid. Can understand them not letting you sell prize cars but this is bought from the dealer.

Really

I guess (hope) this is one more thing they will fix in a patch.

I really dislike the money situation, it looks like you only have enough money to buy 2 or 3 relatively good cars or need serious grinding to get more.

I am holding off buying cars as I hate to find out later on I need a million to buy a competitive car, I have 700k and want a Ferrari 458 but if I later find I need a proper racecar for 950k I am screwed.

Finally done the Elise challenge.. Twice i managed 2nd place coming into the last corner and nailed into the back of the lead car! ARGH!!!!!
