So I went for dinner at Gordon Ramsey at Claridges

The food and service was flawless when I visited. Although I don't remember creased table cloths nor mediocre presentation. I'm glad you enjoyed it though ;)

I wouldn't mind trying one of his steak houses next time! :D

yeah man creased table cloths, ****ing unbelievable!!

Lost me at this point.

There are no other people in the restaurant.

And this is the photo the restaurant manager took of us, he saw the camera on the table and offered to take it, he obviously wasn't bothered either.
I won't reply any more on the subject of photos, we obviously have different views on the subject.
I'm happy I took the photos and have a record of the evening.

Good lord, how sodding pretentious are some of you lot?! Mind you, it shouldn't surprise me really.

Taking photographs in a posh restaurant = chav?? Get the **** over yourself.

Well said, good on the OP for taking pics to remember the night. Chav comments are just pathetic.

I dread to think how some of the people who have contributed to this thread would have coped during World War II, of they find that level of food bad quality or normal at all.

Go to somewhere that has little access to clean running water, and a balanced diet is chick peas and rice, the go back to your posh restaurants without feeling sick at spending £200+ for something you find normal and every day.

This is not a dig at the OP, as he stated this was a rare and special occasion and as such, taking photo's to preserve the memories better is a perfectly acceptable thing to do.

What do you sound like, so you can't take a photo in a restaurant?

A perfectly fair assessment, my god you wasn't even there.
Look at the look of horror on the other diners faces when I took this photo, you can see them thinking how uncouth.

No offence, but she looks a bit rough. Was she in some sort of accident?

Personally the most expensive meal I've ever had was £50 for two people and I still think the idea of taking photos of your food in a restaurant very odd...

I can't believe you were the only people there, what time did you go?

has she got a bit of tin foil on her finger, (if it's a prosthetic nuckle I apologise)

I can't say I would ever use flash photography in a restaurant, it just strikes me as an incredibly rude thing to do.

It's for chavs who want to impress people with the food they have. Just bad manners and completely tasteless but what does one expect these days.

It looks like a nice meal, a once in a lifetime type of meal for me.

Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Also for us mere mortals, no harm in a few discreetly taken photos, memories of good times are best saved.

I went to Smiths of Smithfields over the summer with my parents and sister and another thing I love about expensive restaurants is the service. Our waiter could tell us everything about what we wanted to order. He told us what complimented what, other things that we might also like. :)

and excellent restaurant on both the 2nd and 3rd floors. Only had the pleasure of 3rd floor once and at £81 a head it won't be somewhere we go often but the food was incredible.

Been to the 2nd floor probably 10 times now and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time as have all of the people i went with/took.

looks a bit like it's been topped with maggots

Thanks for the write up OP, I'm going with the mrs for our one year anniversary in April, we've opted for the A la Carte as we've always loved the idea of having a Wellington from a Ramsey restaurant as we're both huge fans of Hells Kitchen where the Wellington is a big hit!
