***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Put in a few more hours on this, glad I did as I'm really enjoying the game now - the handling seems a little better than Forza to me, and I'm a critical ****! But some cars do seem to just drive like a barge and go where the hell they want.
 
Out of all the cars I have driven in the game so far (half way to level 19) the Lotus Elise is by far the hardest car in the game to control. I bought one for the British Lightweight races and it's so easy to just loose the back end under braking. The least said about the Top Gear Lotus challenge, the better.

For the most part the game is good, but the game can induce full on nerd rage at times. The International A licence part 10 is one that really got me very very annoyed today, I must have been on it for an hour. Managed silver in the end by finishing second, but first place was miles in front. And with the game being so strict about contact it's really hard to get past cars cleanly when the AI blatantly obstucts, rams and brake tests you in all the right places to get you disqualified.

that one got at me too, hated it, you only just had to look at another car and you're disqualified, i must have clipped a bit of grass by 1 millimeter and got disqualified, took an insane amount of tries and ended up with silver when i finally managed to make it around the first time lol

You havnt driven the Lambo Countach! Iv never sworn so much trying to man handle such a poorly designed car round Suzuka!!!

That test is impossible too, no idea how you get the last car... Took me 20 trys just to learn how to break that horrible car into the first corner... (I really hate Lambos as racing cars now)
 
What touring cars are people going for? I assume you can't win one from the list that is going around, so I guess it is just pot luck what I can get in the 2nd hand.

Anyone noticed their loading times going down? Was just doing a championship and the third race loaded before the bar got 1/4 accross... :confused:

I did my first endurance race this afternoon got halfway through and paused made a drink and had 10 minutes then continued i couldnt do 60 laps in one go :p , has anyone bought the peugeot 908 race car ??? that thing looks sweet :D but i could do with the chaparral race car for the historic race also and yes i have tried other cars but cant get the job done on the monaco track and tried loads of times .
 
Oh yeah and has anyone noticed on the Amateur event Super car cup round in Laguna Seca one of the cars on the first lap likes to just head to the pit exit and use that bit of the track to overtake a few cars off the start?!?!
 
My Skyline R33 GTR 714bhp tops out at 221mph. Same goes for my Skyline R34 GTR 779BHP at 221mph. Maybe because I've set their gear ratios the same. But they don't bounce off the rev limiter. Veyron is for noobs.

Well I found part of the problem with this bloody Like the Wind Superspeedway Indy. It appears after you Race modify a car it disables most of its upgrades, which is pretty silly. So the ECU, Intake, Exhaust CC and Manifold, Super Charger were all set to the stock parts... :rolleyes:

However even with those upgrades I'm still struggling with my ZR1. Nearly won it a minute ago but right at the last moment they all boxed round me and I couldn't do anything so came 6th instead of 1st! :rolleyes: :mad:

Any tips for setting up the ZR1 RM? I have max downforce both front and rear. Gear Ratio is set at 249 Max Speed. The LSD, Brakes, Suspension are all set to default settings.

You did supercharge it yeah? :p Your gearig is correct, turn on the driven line and stick to it, you need to lift fractionally at the end of each straight, but not coming onto the straights. I'm getting 42.2s consistently and have had it lower :) The only driver aid I had on was ABS of 1, full downforce front and rear

bought the premium lexus concept black car as it qualfys as a touring car, nice cockpit cam too :)

A tuned Peugeot 908, Mazda 787B or a Minolta will easily beat that on technical tracks. The only track I'd say the Veyron would best a racing car on would be the long version of route 5 which is about 14 miles of just straight road. I had one fully tuned myself and it was poo in the corners. Loads of power but it can't match the downforce and cornering ability of the pure Le Mans cars.
 
Jesus christ, how many on here managed to get gold for licence a-8?
13.816 i have but need 13.800. All aids switched off, its doing my head in :(

It took me about 30 goes, so frustrating, in the end I just turned off my ghost car because it frustrated me watching fly past everytime, then suddenly I just did it, despite not knowingly doing anything different to any of my other attempts. Also the demonstration video doesn't even get it within the gold time which I thought was a bit odd as they could set an impossible time and then just expect you to do it within that timeframe despite not being able to demonstrate to you how it's done.
